Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering (Mechatronics)

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and deliver high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
  • Lead or contribute to modules in areas including:
    • Control Systems
    • Instrumentation and Automation
    • Electrical and Electronic Principles
    • Probability and Statistics for AI and Optimization
    • Industry 4.0
    • Mathematics and Applied Sciences
    • Individual and Capstone Projects
  • Create engaging learning experiences using innovative teaching methods and technology-enhanced learning.
  • Ensure teaching is informed by current research, industry practices, and emerging technologies.
  • Supervise student projects and provide academic guidance and personal tutoring.
  • Contribute to curriculum design, quality assurance, and continuous enhancement initiatives.
  • Support student recruitment, employability activities, and the overall student experience.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the School and participate in academic committees and working groups.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with industry, professional bodies, and external organizations in Egypt and internationally.
  • Engage in professional development and contribute to the University’s internationalization and knowledge exchange activities.
  • Participate in research and scholarly activities, including publications, externally funded projects, conference presentations, collaborative research, and supervision of research students.
Qualifications & Experience

Applicants should possess:

  • A PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a closely related discipline (or equivalent professional qualifications where applicable).
  • Experience teaching in higher education or demonstrated expertise in delivering technical training, mentoring, or professional instruction.
  • Strong knowledge in one or more of the following areas: Control Systems, Automation, Instrumentation, Electrical and Electronic Principles, Industry 4.0, Mathematics, Applied Sciences, or AI-related optimization methods.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong organizational skills and proficiency in the use of digital technologies to support teaching and learning.
  • A commitment to delivering an outstanding student experience and promoting inclusive, student-centered education.
Desirable Attributes

Preference may be given to candidates who have:

  • Professional or active membership in relevant engineering bodies.
  • A recognized teaching qualification or higher education teaching accreditation.
  • Research publications, consultancy experience, or involvement in externally funded projects.
  • Experience working with industry partners or international collaborations.
  • Experience contributing to curriculum innovation, transnational education, or commercial training initiatives.
  • Multilingual abilities and experience working in diverse or international environments.
Additional Requirements
  • Willingness to participate in occasional evening or weekend academic activities, including recruitment events.
  • Flexibility to travel locally or internationally as required.
