Position Title: School Psychologist
Division: Family &Student Support Services
Reports To: Director of Psychological Services

Essential Duties:

  • Participate in a Multi-Tiered System of Supports/Student Support Teams.
  • Collaborate and consult with staff, parents, and/or students to analyze, adapt, and monitor interventions to meet the learning, behavioral, and/or social-emotional needs of students.
  • Select, administer, and interpret psychological and/or psychoeducational assessments given to various students referred for a comprehensive evaluation.
  • Conduct student observations in classrooms and unstructured settings as needed as part of evaluations and to provide staff consultation.
  • Write psychoeducational reports that adhere to local guidelines.
  • Efficiently communicate assessment results to parents and school teams through written reports and verbal explanations of the student’s performance.
  • Serve on the eligibility team by attending meetings, discussing evaluation findings with team members, and making appropriate recommendations.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of all special education eligibility categories.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of local, state, and federal legal requirements and policies governing special education and/or Section 504.
  • Manage and maintain caseload to meet legal timelines.
  • Provide professional development to staff and parents to promote effective student social, emotional, behavioral, and academic outcomes.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Hold or be eligible for a minimum of an S-6 (Specialist) level, or equivalent degree hours
  • Hold or be eligible for a Georgia Educator Service Certificate in School Psychology, and/or credentials required by the school district.
  • Ability to maintain highly confidential information professionally.
  • Ability to work well with students, parents, staff, and the community.
  • High integrity, excellent character, and good professional reputation.
  • Must abide by the Georgia Professional Standards Code of Ethics for Educators.
  • Must be regularly, predictably, and reliably at work.
  • Must perform tasks involving prolonged periods of standing, walking, and sitting.
  • Must perform routine physical activities such as bending and lifting/pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds.
  • Vision, hearing, written, and verbal communications are essential factors in performing required tasks.
