Scientific Data Engineer
As a Scientific Data Specialist, you curate, validate, and maintain high-quality scientific data for BIOVIA’s informatics platform. You will shape data models and ontologies, ensuring seamless integration with CAD, simulations, and LIMS while supporting cross-functional teams. You’ll apply statistical and ML techniques to derive insights and build predictive capabilities. - Data curation and validation from literature, databases, vendor catalogs, and experiments
- Design and maintenance of scientific ontology and data models
- Develop ETL pipelines to ingest and clean datasets
- Apply statistical and ML methods to analyze data and build predictive models
- Integrate scientific database with CAD software, multi-physics simulations, and LIMS
- Gather user feedback and validate data usefulness and accuracy
- Stay current with domain and informatics advancements to improve data resources
- Maintain documentation of data sources, validation procedures, and data models
- Collaborate with global teams to deliver reliable data solutions
- Master's or PhD in a relevant scientific discipline
- Proven experience in scientific data curation, validation, and analysis
- Strong understanding of domain-relevant properties and material/substance selection processes
- Proficiency in Python (Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn) or R
- Experience with SQL or NoSQL databases
- Familiarity with scientific databases and ontologies (e.g., Materials Project, ChEMBL, PubChem)
- Experience with CAD software, multi-physics simulation tools, or LIMS is a plus
