Summary
Medical scribe assists oncologists by documenting patient visits, managing medical records, and ensuring accurate information is recorded in electronic health records.
The Medical Scribe will create and amend office notes for the attending physician. This will also include sourcing medical records from outside organizations in advance for new and established clinic patients; inspecting and scanning documents into the electronic health record; and communicating with patients before, during and after the visits to ensure all necessary information is collected and shared with relevant providers. These duties will primarily be in the outpatient clinic setting but may include inpatient consults.
Duties and responsibilities
- Collect relevant medical records from other organizations according to established HIPPA standards.
- Communicate with patients before, during and after visits to ensure all necessary information is obtained from and shared with all relevant providers.
- Create and modify as requested reports in printed or electronic form for physician's review, signature, and corrections and for inclusion in patients' medical records.
- Produce medical reports, correspondence, records, patient-care information, statistics, medical research, and administrative material.
- Review and edit transcribed reports or dictated material for spelling, grammar, clarity, consistency, and proper medical terminology.
- Identify mistakes in reports and check with doctors to obtain the correct information.
