Scrum Master / Product Owner

If you’re someone who enjoys sitting at the intersection of product, technology and Agile delivery, this is a great opportunity to join a global market leader in mining equipment and technology and work on sophisticated data platforms supporting large-scale operational technology.

We’re looking for someone to join a growing team who can combine the skills of a Product Owner and Scrum Master — someone comfortable working with technical teams, shaping and refining backlogs, facilitating Agile delivery and making sure complex work moves from roadmap through to successful implementation.

You’ll work across data platforms, analytics and production systems processing large volumes of operational and machine-generated data.
Experience within mining or mining technology would be highly regarded, but we’re equally interested in people coming from other complex, data-intensive industries.

What you'll be doing
Working closely with Product Managers, Engineering Managers, Technical Leads and software teams, you’ll help turn product priorities and business requirements into clear, achievable delivery plans.

You’ll:

• Facilitate sprint planning, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, retrospectives and other Agile ceremonies.
• Partner with Product Managers and technical leads to translate roadmap priorities and customer needs into well-defined backlog items.
• Develop clear requirements, acceptance criteria, dependencies and expected outcomes.
• Drive Agile practices and continuous improvement to improve delivery flow and predictability.
• Remove blockers and coordinate dependencies across multiple engineering and technology teams.
• Maintain visibility of commitments, progress, risks and upcoming work.
• Help teams balance new features with technical debt, defects, modernisation and operational priorities.
• Support release planning and operational readiness.
• Use delivery metrics and team feedback to continuously improve delivery outcomes.
• Keep engineering teams connected to the broader business context and customer value behind the work.

The role requires someone who can comfortably coordinate across Product Management, engineering, architecture, operations, support and external delivery partners.

What we're looking for

Ideally, you’ll bring a combination of Product Owner and Scrum Master capabilities, rather than being focused exclusively on one discipline.
You’ll have:

• Around 5+ years' experience across Agile delivery, product ownership, software delivery, business analysis, project delivery or related technology roles.
• Strong Product Owner skills, particularly backlog management, refinement, requirements and acceptance criteria.
• Strong Scrum Master skills, including facilitation, ceremonies, removing blockers and continuous improvement.
• Experience working with Big Data, data platforms, analytics or other data-intensive technology environments.
• Experience coordinating delivery across multiple software engineering or cross-functional technology teams.
• A good understanding of the software development lifecycle and modern software delivery.
• Experience with Scrum, Kanban, SAFe or similar Agile frameworks.
• Experience using Azure DevOps, Jira or similar delivery and backlog management tools.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Enough technical understanding to confidently work with engineering teams across data, platform, integration and software topics.

The position description specifically calls for experience working with technical stakeholders across data platforms, analytics, mining/industrial technology or enterprise software, alongside strong Agile delivery and backlog management capability.

Highly regarded

Experience in mining, mining technology, heavy industry, industrial technology or operational technology (OT) would be a strong advantage.
We’d also be interested in candidates who have worked with:

• Large-scale data platforms or data-intensive enterprise applications
• Machine, sensor or operational data
• Cloud and distributed software environments
• Geographically distributed engineering teams
• Complex enterprise software products

Why this role?

This isn't a role where you'll simply run stand-ups and update a delivery board.
You'll be closely involved in how work is shaped, prioritised, understood and delivered, working between Product Management and Engineering to bring clarity to complex technical initiatives.

It’s a great opportunity for someone who enjoys the product ownership side of technology but also loves the facilitation, coaching and delivery focus of a Scrum Master role.

You'll be collaborating with a co-located team working on a globally developed and deployed product with real-world impact. This is a 12 month contract with potential for extension.
