SDE III - Backend

We're looking for an experienced SDE III - Backend who is strong in backend engineering, system design, and databases. The role is highly hands-on and involves designing and building scalable backend services, APIs, distributed systems, and event-driven workflows. Go is a key requirement for this role. Candidates coming from a strong Java backend background can also be considered, provided they have at least 1 year of hands-on Golang experience and are comfortable working primarily in Go.

The core responsibilities for the job include the following:

Backend Engineering:

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Golang.
• Build and maintain reliable microservices and REST/GraphQL APIs.
• Design and implement event-driven systems and asynchronous processing using queues/messaging systems.
• Build backend systems capable of handling high-volume and transaction-heavy workloads.
• Work on performance, scalability, reliability, security, and availability of backend services.
• Diagnose and resolve production issues and performance bottlenecks.

System Design:

• Own technical solutions from design through implementation and production.
• Design scalable distributed systems and define appropriate service boundaries.
• Make sound decisions around databases, APIs, caching, messaging, and system architecture.
• Participate in architecture and design discussions and contribute to technical documentation.

Databases:

• Work extensively with relational and NoSQL databases.
• Design efficient schemas, queries, indexes, and data access patterns.
• Understand database scalability, performance optimization, consistency, and reliability.

Engineering and Collaboration:

• Write clean, maintainable, production-quality code.
• Develop unit, integration, and performance tests.
• Participate in code reviews and technical discussions.
• Collaborate with frontend/mobile engineers and infrastructure teams to deliver end-to-end product functionality.
• Contribute to CI/CD, observability, monitoring, and engineering best practices.

Requirements:

• 6+ years of backend software development experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with Golang.
• A minimum of 1+ year of practical Golang experience is mandatory.
• Strong experience with system design and distributed systems.
• Strong understanding of relational databases and NoSQL databases.
• Experience building REST and/or GraphQL APIs.
• Experience with microservices and event-driven architecture.
• Experience with queues, messaging systems, or asynchronous processing.
• Good understanding of scalability, performance, reliability, and fault tolerance.
• Familiarity with at least one cloud platform: AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Java Candidates:

• Strong Java backend engineers can also be considered only if they have at least 1 year of hands-on Golang experience.
• Candidates with less than 1 year of Go experience will not be considered.
• The selected candidate should be comfortable working primarily with Golang.

Nice to Have:

• Experience in fintech, payments, banking, or transaction-heavy systems.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with observability tools such as Datadog, Prometheus, or Grafana.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated quality gates.
• Experience building highly available and fault-tolerant systems.
• Experience working with financial transactions, payment workflows, or money movement systems.
