The Role
We’re looking for an SDET who is passionate about software quality and enjoys solving problems through automation. You’ll work closely with developers, product managers, and other members of the engineering team to understand how our products work, identify potential issues early, and build reliable automated tests that help us ship with confidence. This is a role where you’ll get the opportunity to work across UI, APIs, backend systems, and databases while developing strong engineering and quality practices.
What You’ll Do
- Understand product requirements and technical designs to identify potential quality risks and testing scenarios.
- Design, develop, and maintain automated tests for UI and APIs using appropriate automation frameworks.
- Build and maintain reliable and reusable automation scripts for functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end testing.
- Work closely with developers and product teams to identify issues early and contribute to a shift-left approach to quality.
- Perform API testing and validate backend functionality using tools such as Postman and REST clients.
- Perform database validation using SQL and ensure data is accurate and consistent across systems.
- Identify, document, track, and validate defects through resolution.
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and help improve the speed and reliability of testing.
- Contribute to improving test coverage, automation efficiency, and overall product quality.
- Identify flaky tests, testing gaps, and repetitive manual processes and look for opportunities to automate and improve them.
- Participate in performance and security testing initiatives where applicable.
- Learn and adopt better testing practices, tools, and technologies as the product and engineering environment evolves.
- Collaborate with the engineering team to build a culture where quality is considered throughout the development lifecycle.
What You’ll Bring
- 1–3 years of experience in QA, SDET, or software testing with a strong interest in automation and quality engineering.
- Good programming skills in one or more of C#, .NET, ASP.NET, Python, Java, or JavaScript.
- Hands-on experience with automation tools such as Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, RestAssured, or similar.
- Understanding of test automation frameworks such as TestNG, JUnit, or Mocha.
- Practical understanding of API testing using tools such as Postman or REST clients.
- Good knowledge of SQL and databases, with an understanding of backend validation.
- Exposure to CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or GitHub Actions.
- Good understanding of software testing fundamentals, including functional, regression, integration, white-box, and black-box testing.
- Understanding of Agile/Scrum development practices.
- Exposure to performance or security testing is an added advantage.
- What We’re Looking For
- Someone who is curious about how software works and enjoys figuring out what can go wrong.
- You should have strong analytical and problem-solving skills and be comfortable learning new technologies and testing approaches.
- We value people who take ownership, ask questions, pay attention to detail, and are willing to challenge the status quo when they see an opportunity to improve quality.
- You’ll work closely with developers and product teams, so good communication and collaboration skills are important.
- Most importantly, you should be excited about growing as an engineer and building a strong foundation in automation and quality engineering.
Education
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
