Sea Freight / Pricing Manager (Logistics Provider)
- Plan, direct, and coordinate activities of the Seafreight department to ensure efficient movement of international ocean freight and ensure the department operates profitably and is financially self-sustaining
- Source and negotiate competitive sea freight rates and secure space allocation for containerized and breakbulk shipments with shipping lines, NVOCCs, freight forwarders, and overseas agents
- Handle enquiries and provide competitive ocean freight quotations to Sales teams and overseas agents
- Maintain and regularly update freight rate database (buying and selling rates) to ensure pricing accuracy and competitiveness
- Develop freight solutions across all Incoterms, including import, export, cross-trade, and triangle shipments across global trade lanes, with focus on Intra-Asia and Southeast Asia
- Build and maintain strong relationships with shipping lines, NVOCCs, overseas agents, and logistics partners to secure competitive rates and service support
- Work closely with Sales and Operations teams to develop new business opportunities, market strategies, and ensure customer satisfaction
- Conduct market research on trade lanes, importers, exporters, and freight trends to identify business opportunities and provide insights to Sales Manager and CEO
- Analyse and control departmental expenditure in line with budget requirements
- Lead, manage, and develop department staff, including training and performance evaluation
- Provide leadership and guidance to build a motivated and high-performing team
- Ensure alignment between operations, customer service, and management through effective communication and collaboration
- Stay updated on shipping market trends, freight rate movements, and industry developments
- Leverage digital tools and technology to improve sourcing efficiency and freight management processes
- Perform any other duties as assigned by management
Requirements
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Maritime Studies, International Business, or related field
- Minimum five (5) years of experience in Sea Freight Rates Sourcing, Pricing, Customer Service, or Operations within the logistics / freight forwarding industry
- Strong knowledge of ocean freight operations, shipping documentation, freight pricing, Incoterms, and international trade
- Strong network and relationships with shipping lines, NVOCCs, overseas agents, and logistics partners preferred
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to work with Sales, Operations, and external stakeholders
- Self-motivated, resourceful, and passionate about freight sourcing and business development
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and familiar with logistics systems and digital tools
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities and tight deadlines
