Hours: An average of 16-19.5 hours/week, with potential for increased hours in the future

Term: Until December 2026, with the potential to extend.

FLSA Status: Non-exempt

Job Summary: The Center for Coastal Studies Marine Fisheries Research (MFR) program conducts community-based collaborative research and education, working directly with fishers and shellfish farmers primarily in the Cape Cod region.

Essential Duties:

  • Coordinate and participate in field work and laboratory work on outer Cape Cod, primarily from Orleans to Provincetown;
  • Data entry and management of field notes;
  • Data management (Google Suite and Microsoft Office);
  • Take thorough notes in the field;
  • Perform preliminary data exploration and analysis;
  • Perform field work both on land and on sea;
  • Generate tables and figures for internal and external reports;
  • Maintain equipment, freezer, and video inventory;
  • Ability and willingness to be flexible and adapt to weather and personnel availability

Prerequisites:

  • B.S. in Marine Science or a related field;
  • Prior experience working on the water;
  • Data entry and data management skills;
  • Familiarity with and interest in science and policy related to marine fisheries;
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite applications;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Ability to lift 50 and drag 100 pounds and comfort working outside or at sea for up to twelve hours;
  • US Driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • US citizenship or proper US work visas
