Secretary of Interior Archaeologist

We are seeking a Secretary of the Interior (SOI) Qualified Archaeologist with construction monitoring experience to lead and support archaeological investigations and cultural resource compliance projects for a project in the St. Louis region. This senior-level position is responsible for planning, conducting, and managing all phases of Archaeology Monitoring—in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations. The ideal candidate demonstrates technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and a strong understanding of Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide Archaeology Monitoring.
- Prepare and review technical reports and other cultural resource documents.
- Ensure compliance with Section 106 (NHPA), NEPA, and other applicable cultural resource laws and guidelines.
- Coordinate with federal, state, and tribal agencies, clients, and other stakeholders regarding archaeological findings and mitigation strategies.
- Supervise field crews and support staff, providing training, and quality assurance.
- Conduct archival and background research to inform field strategies.
- Maintain accurate field records and ensure proper artifact documentation and analysis.
- Participate in public outreach and consultation, as appropriate.
