Summary

Ignite is seeking an experienced Security Consultant to provide strategic advisory services, conduct risk assessments, and develop security roadmaps for clients. The role involves balancing technical security architecture with business governance to help organizations improve their security posture.

At Ignite, a Spark partner, we help organisations navigate technology risk, strengthen security capability and make confident decisions about protecting their business and information.

We're looking for an experienced Security Consultant to join our Professional Services Group and play a key role in the continued growth and evolution of our security consulting capability. Working alongside our technical specialists, consultants and client teams, you'll help clients understand their security risks, prioritise improvements and develop practical, right-sized solutions that deliver real business value.

This is a newly created consulting role that combines security governance, risk advisory, technical security consulting and client engagement. You'll work with organisations across a range of industries and levels of maturity, providing trusted advice to IT leaders, executives, operational managers and governance groups while contributing to the ongoing development of Ignite's security services and offerings.

If you're someone who enjoys balancing strategic thinking with practical delivery, can translate complex security concepts into clear business outcomes, and wants the opportunity to influence both client success and service development, we'd like to hear from you.

About the Role

As a Security Consultant, you'll work with clients to assess security risks, identify opportunities for improvement and provide trusted advice across governance, risk, architecture and technology domains. You'll support a wide range of consulting engagements, from security assessments and roadmap development through to security architecture, governance frameworks and strategic advisory services.

You'll also work closely with Ignites Professional Services Group and Technical Services Group to enhance our security offerings, support client opportunities and contribute to thought leadership across the business.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Conducting security maturity assessments, risk reviews, evidence reviews and stakeholder workshops.

  • Developing practical security roadmaps and improvement plans aligned to business priorities.

  • Assessing security risks and control effectiveness across cloud, infrastructure, identity, networking, endpoints, applications and data environments.

  • Providing security architecture input and trusted technical advice to clients and internal teams.

  • Supporting proposals, tenders and customer presentations.

  • Mentoring colleagues and contributing to the growth and maturity of Ignite's security consulting services.

Skills & Experience We Value

  • Proven consulting experience working directly with clients to understand challenges, facilitate workshops, assess options and deliver practical recommendations.

  • Experience working with senior business leaders, IT managers, executives and governance groups.

  • 8+ years' experience across cyber security, technology consulting, architecture, risk, governance or related advisory roles.

  • Strong knowledge of recognised security frameworks and good practice, including NIST, ISO 27001, NZISM, CIS Controls or similar.

  • Experience leading security assessments, security reviews, risk assessments or security planning engagements.

  • Broad technical understanding across cloud, infrastructure, identity, networking, endpoint, application and data security.

  • Ability to communicate complex technical issues in a way that enables practical business decisions.

  • Strong written communication skills, including reports, recommendations, roadmaps and executive-level documentation.

  • Experience developing, enhancing or productising security services, methodologies, frameworks or delivery approaches.

  • Industry certifications

What Success Looks Like

You're a trusted advisor who understands that effective security is about balancing risk, business outcomes and practical delivery.
