This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Security Consultant (Microsoft Azure & M365) based in United States.
This is a remote consulting opportunity for a security professional focused on Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 environments. You will work directly with clients to understand their security challenges, business objectives, and compliance needs. The role spans cloud security, identity, endpoint protection, information governance, and security monitoring. You will help design, implement, and optimize Microsoft security solutions while translating complex requirements into practical outcomes. The environment is collaborative and technically driven, with opportunities to work alongside architects, consultants, and customer stakeholders. This role is well suited to someone who combines hands-on Microsoft security expertise with strong communication and a consultative approach.
Accountabilities:
- Partner with customers to assess security challenges, business objectives, compliance requirements, and technical environments, translating those needs into practical Microsoft security solutions.
- Configure and support Microsoft Entra ID, identity governance, multi-factor authentication, Conditional Access, Privileged Identity Management (PIM), and related privileged-access capabilities.
- Design, implement, and optimize Microsoft Defender solutions across identity, endpoints, email, Microsoft 365, Azure, and cloud security posture management environments.
- Support endpoint protection, compliance, and device-management initiatives using Microsoft Intune and Endpoint Manager, helping customers strengthen their overall security posture.
- Configure and support Microsoft Purview capabilities for information protection, data governance, compliance, and related security requirements.
- Use Azure Log Analytics and security insights to monitor customer environments, investigate security events, identify improvement opportunities, and strengthen operational visibility.
- Develop and maintain PowerShell automation and other efficiency-focused solutions that improve consistency, reduce manual effort, and support repeatable delivery.
- Collaborate with architects, consultants, technical specialists, and customer stakeholders throughout project delivery, contributing to successful implementation and optimization of security initiatives.
- 2–5 years of experience in Azure security engineering, including configuring security controls, monitoring environments, addressing security issues, and supporting incident response activities.
- Hands-on experience implementing and managing Microsoft security controls, monitoring capabilities, and security best practices within enterprise or customer environments.
- Strong practical knowledge of Microsoft Entra ID, identity governance, Conditional Access, MFA, and self-service password reset (SSPR).
- Experience with Microsoft Purview and information governance initiatives, with an understanding of how data protection and compliance requirements translate into technical controls.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Defender solutions, including Defender for Microsoft 365, Defender for Endpoint, Defender for Identity, and Defender for Cloud, including cloud security posture management capabilities.
- Strong customer-facing consulting and communication skills, with the ability to understand business requirements, explain technical concepts clearly, and build productive relationships with stakeholders.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities, with the capacity to manage priorities and contribute effectively across multiple consulting engagements.
- Experience working directly in customer-facing consulting engagements is preferred, particularly in environments requiring technical discovery, solution implementation, and stakeholder collaboration.
- Willingness and ability to travel occasionally as required for customer or project needs.
- Experience with a Microsoft-focused consulting or systems integration environment is preferred, along with knowledge of Exchange Online, Active Directory, and hybrid identity architectures.
- Experience with Microsoft Sentinel, PowerShell, Azure Automation, and Kusto Query Language (KQL) is valued, as is knowledge of Data Loss Prevention (DLP) and Microsoft Information Protection (MIP).
- Network security experience and Microsoft security certifications such as SC-100, SC-200, SC-300, SC-400, or AZ-500 are advantageous.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or otherwise authorized to work in the United States; employer sponsorship is not available for this position.
- Fully remote position available anywhere in the United States, with a preference for candidates located in Central or Eastern time zones.
