Security Detection & Response I

We're seeking a Security Detection & Response Analyst (SDR I) to join a high-performing cyber security function responsible for protecting critical enterprise systems and infrastructure.

Responsibilities

As a Security Detection & Response Analyst, you will:

  • Monitor security alerts and events across multiple platforms including endpoint, network, identity, and cloud environments.
  • Investigate potential threats and security incidents by analysing logs, telemetry, and threat intelligence data.
  • Support cyber incident response activities including alert validation, triage, containment support, and documentation.
  • Collaborate with senior analysts and engineers to identify suspicious activity and escalate complex investigations where required.
  • Contribute to the enhancement of detection capabilities by identifying false positives and recommending improvements to monitoring rules.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining security playbooks, runbooks, and investigation procedures.
  • Gain exposure to leading security technologies including SIEM, EDR/XDR, SOAR, automation, and AI-driven security solutions.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at strengthening monitoring coverage, visibility, and operational effectiveness.


Your Profile

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • Experience within cyber security, IT support, infrastructure, service desk, networking, or a related technical field.
  • A genuine passion for cyber security and a strong desire to build a long-term career within the industry.
  • Foundational knowledge of security operations, incident response, threat detection, or cyber defence principles.
  • Exposure to technologies such as Microsoft Sentinel, Splunk, CrowdStrike, Defender, QRadar, or similar security platforms will be highly regarded.
  • An understanding of attacker tactics and frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with excellent attention to detail.
  • The ability to communicate findings clearly and work effectively within a collaborative team environment.
  • Relevant certifications such as Security+, SC-200, AZ-500, Microsoft Security certifications, or similar will be viewed favourably.
