Security Engineer

This is a hands-on role within a small cybersecurity team, supporting security operations, threat detection, incident investigation, and ongoing security monitoring. The successful candidate will work closely with senior security professionals and play an important role in maintaining and improving the organisation's security posture.

This role would suit someone who has worked in security operations, SOC, or MSSP environment and is confident working independently while contributing to a fast-paced team. Some of the key requirements are:
- Monitor, investigate and respond to security alerts and incidents
- Perform threat detection, analysis and remediation activities
- Manage and optimise security monitoring tools and processes
- Support security operations across Microsoft security technologies
- Investigate suspicious activity and identify root causes of security events
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the security environment
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure security best practices are maintained
Ngā uara me ngā pūkenga e angitu ai koe | What you'll need to succeed
- Commercial experience in a Security Engineer, SOC Analyst, Security Operations or similar role (2-3 years)
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Sentinel
- Strong experience with Microsoft Defender XDR
- Experience investigating and responding to security incidents
- Familiarity with SIEM tools, log analysis and threat detection
- Ability to work autonomously within a small, fast-paced team
- Strong written communication skills
