Security Engineer

Salary: £58,000 - 98,000 per year

• A minimum of 5 years multi-network exposure, including hands-on experience of designing and managing secure networks.
• Experience with Cisco Firewalls, Routers, and Switches.
• Experience with Juniper platforms.
• Experience with SIEM tools.
• Experience with IDS/IPS.
• Experience with penetration testing tools.
• Experience with computer forensic tools.
• Knowledge of ISO27001 and GDPR.
• Ability to communicate network security issues to peers and management.
• Ability to quickly learn and retain knowledge of bespoke products and satellite services.
• Strong technical competency with a right-first-time, every-time attitude.
• Excellent customer support skills and the ability to interact with customers by phone and in meetings.
• Must hold, or have the ability to easily achieve, SC Security Clearance.
• Well-organised, proactive, and self-motivated attitude.
• Effective communicator with strong attention to detail and accurate planning skills.
• Telecommunications background desirable.
• UK MOD/Government networks experience desirable.

• Develop information security plans and policies for our company and customers.
• Work with Security Management and Compliance functions to embed security management plans into operational practice.
• Implement protections and solutions to ensure and enforce information security plans and policies.
• Monitor and collate information from monitoring tools and third parties to provide an accurate view of the current security position for our organisation and customers.
• Investigate and resolve security incident events logged by staff members, monitoring tools, and security partners.
• Educate and advise team members on handling security threats such as suspicious emails, security alerts, and CVEs.
• Take responsibility for the through-life security of internal and customer networks and systems, including vulnerability testing and recommending improvements.
• Support internal IT and Engineering teams by providing cybersecurity advice and expertise on the design and management of internal, customer, and global networks.
• Create documentation around policies, procedures, and events.
• Act as the centre of excellence for network and device security.
• Design, build, test, commission, and troubleshoot security solutions on internal and customer networks.
• Develop and maintain policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines.
• Write and maintain configuration and reconfiguration documentation, schematics, support guides, and other documentation as required.
• Share knowledge, train, support, and develop internal staff on security management.
• Work across the IT, Enterprise, and Hub Engineering teams in support of our own and customer networks.
• Support the IT Manager and IT team in ensuring the highest levels of network and device security.
• Act as key expert in cybersecurity design and management for the company and customers as required.
• Serve as the final point of contact for security issues, including troubleshooting and resolving issues to tight timescales.
• Participate in our Incident Management scheme.
• Liaise with other departments as required to ensure full support of networks and knowledge.
• Provide technical advice regarding complex cybersecurity problems.
• Follow up and drive issues through to satisfactory completion.
• Identify training needs to ensure consistency of service.
• Plan maintenance and outages appropriately.
