Talent Locker is recruiting a Security Engineer for an established organisation operating within a highly regulated environment.
This is a hands-on engineering role responsible for implementing, configuring and continuously improving security controls across the organisation’s technology environment.
Sitting within the Infrastructure team and working closely with Cyber, you will take technical ownership of key security platforms and turn assurance findings, control reviews and penetration-testing outcomes into practical remediation.
You will have the access and authority required to make changes, improve configurations and strengthen controls across identity, cloud, infrastructure and endpoint environments.
This role is best suited to an experienced Security Engineer who enjoys working directly with technology. It is not a governance, risk and compliance role.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
• Implement, configure and maintain security platforms and controls
• Take ownership of privileged access and identity-management systems
• Configure and improve PAM, IAM, MFA and Conditional Access controls
• Maintain and tune SIEM alerts, detection rules and security use cases
• Manage endpoint, email, vulnerability and data-protection controls
• Review assurance, audit and penetration-testing findings
• Complete technical remediation and verify that identified risks have been addressed
• Strengthen security configurations across cloud, network, server and endpoint environments
• Support incident investigation, containment and post-incident hardening
• Produce technical documentation, operational runbooks and evidence of control effectiveness
• Work closely with Infrastructure, Cyber, Cloud, Applications and external security partners
• Recommend improvements based on your experience of effective security environments
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
• At least three years’ experience in security engineering, security operations or infrastructure engineering with a strong security focus
• Proven hands-on experience configuring and administering security technologies
• Strong understanding of identity, privileged access, infrastructure and cloud security
• Experience with SIEM, PAM, IAM or IGA, EDR, DLP and vulnerability-management platforms
• Knowledge of Microsoft security technologies and Azure environments
• Understanding of networks, firewalls, Windows administration, logging and incident response
• Ability to investigate findings and carry out technical remediation—not simply escalate actions to another team
• Strong troubleshooting, documentation and stakeholder-communication skills
• Experience working within structured incident, change and problem-management processes
Experience with Microsoft Sentinel, Delinea, Microsoft Purview or Abnormal AI would be highly regarded.
Experience within financial services, insurance, healthcare or another regulated environment will also be beneficial, but is not essential.
Certifications such as Security+, AZ-500, CCNA, AWS Security, GIAC or CEH will be viewed favourably.
WHY CONSIDER THIS ROLE?
This is an opportunity to take genuine technical ownership of an evolving security environment. You will work across a broad range of security technologies, help shape how controls are configured and play a visible role in strengthening the organisation’s overall security capability.
The position is based in Wollongong with hybrid flexibility. Applications are welcomed from suitably experienced candidates based in Wollongong, the Illawarra or Sydney who can attend the Wollongong office as required.
