Overview

The Security Officer is responsible for the daily security of the Hospital and it’s clinics. The Security Officer observes all visitors and employees of the Hospital and ensures proper Hospital Polices and procedures are followed. The Security Officer is responsible for preventing all illegal activities on the Hospital property. The Security Officer may be called upon to transport critical items and to escort Hospital employees to and from assigned work areas.

Responsibilities

- Prevention of all illegal activities on Hospital property. Detect and prevent pilfering, larceny, malicious mischief, burglary and destruction of property

- Removal of unauthorized persons from Hospital property. Prevent and prohibit peddlers or vendors on hospital property unless authorized by Supervisor.

- Enforcement of Identification Badge Policy. Performs Package-Pass control duties. Shall not permit alcoholic beverages into the Hospital and/or clinics.

- Escort Hospital personnel between buildings and to properties belonging to the Hospital and into Hospital related areas.- Maintain order and flow of traffic in and around buildings. Prevent illegal parking of vehicles in emergency room driveway.- Keep corridors clear of patients and visitors. Clear area when code 99 staff is working

- Challenge off duty employees entering the hospital to ensure that they have legitimate reason for re-entry. Report any employees who are under the influence of intoxicants to their respective department head or Administrator for appropriate Disciplinary action.- Open and close and secure gates and entrances when required. Must be familiar with location of all fire boxes and extinguishers- To fulfill to best of ability, all instructions, orders and assignments given them by Supervisors in Security.

- Demonstrates knowledge of proper use of equipment:

1. Security Radio 2. Alarm Systems3. FOB Locking System

Qualifications

- Military or Police work

- Security Officer experience

- New York State Security Guard Certification

- High School Diploma or equivalent
