Security Manager

Summary

Security Manager owning physical, personnel, communication, and information security for a defense drone startup in Munich, ensuring compliance with national and NATO classified-information requirements.

We are looking for a clear-headed and experienced Security Manager to own the protection of our sites, our people, our information, and our communication. In this role, you will be responsible for a coherent security concept that satisfies customer, national, and NATO security requirements, and that enables us to run classified and export-controlled work without friction. This is an ownership role with real authority and a direct line to the COO. You grant and withdraw access, you set the rules that apply on every site, and you can stop any activity that creates unacceptable exposure.
  • Security concept and governance: own the company-wide security policy, the threat and risk assessment, and the security posture our defense customers and programs demand.
  • Location security: own physical security across all sites: access control, zoning, alarm and surveillance systems, visitor handling, key management and restricted areas.
  • Communication security: own secure communication and classified information handling: approved channels, encryption standards, storage and transmission rules.
  • Personnel security: own vetting, security clearances, briefings and offboarding for everyone with access to sensitive material.
  • Incident response: own detection, reporting and investigation of security incidents, including notification to customers and authorities.
  • Awareness and training: run recurring security briefings so every employee knows exactly which rules apply to their role.
  • Education: you have completed vocational training or a degree in security management, safety and security engineering, political science or international security studies, law, business administration, information security, or you bring a comparable military or police background.
  • Experience: you bring at least 3 years in corporate, industrial or military security, ideally in a defense, aerospace or critical infrastructure environment.
  • Frameworks: you have worked hands-on with national and NATO security requirements, classified information handling, and personnel security clearance processes.
  • Practice: you are comfortable across the full field: physical security concepts, access and zoning, incident investigation, and security briefings that people actually remember.
  • Mindset: you like building the system, not inheriting it. You are comfortable in a fast-moving start up where the process does not exist yet, and you have the backbone to stop an activity when the risk is not acceptable.
  • Clearance: an existing personnel security clearance (Ü2/Ü3) or eligibility for one.
  • Authority experience: working relationships with BMWK, BAAINBw, national security authorities or customer security officers.
  • Adjacent domains: exposure to export control, IT and cyber security, or business continuity and crisis management.
  • Real impact & ownership: Shape high-tech defense systems and take responsibility from day one.

  • Mission-driven environment: Work on technologies that matter for European security and sovereignty.

  • Competitive package: Competitive salary, EGYM Wellpass, corporate benefits, and equity options aligned with role and level.

  • Deep tech environment: Get hands-on experience with cutting-edge drone technology and real operational use cases.

  • Grow fast: Steep learning curve for juniors, strategic influence and leadership opportunities for seniors.

  • Startup mindset meets defence innovation: flat hierarchies, fast decisions, and space for your ideas.

  • Flexibility: Flexible hours, remote options, and relocation support.

  • Strong team: International, driven colleagues and a culture built on exchange, trust, and shared success.
