Setting the Scene
Our client is a large-scale technology services organisation supporting critical infrastructure and security services across a broad range of enterprise environments. The Security Specialist will join an established technical security team operating within a dynamic managed services environment. The team is responsible for delivering reliable, secure and contemporary security infrastructure services across a diverse technology landscape.
The Role
This role is ideal for a hands-on Security Engineer, Network Security Engineer or Infrastructure Security Specialist who enjoys troubleshooting complex environments and working directly with security technologies. The role requires someone who can work autonomously, troubleshoot effectively and identify opportunities to improve existing security services.
Key responsibilities:
- Manage and support enterprise security infrastructure across multiple environments
- Administer and troubleshoot firewalls, including Palo Alto, Juniper SRX, Cisco and/or Check Point technologies
- Support secure VPN services and remote connectivity solutions
- Manage and troubleshoot DNS and protective DNS services
- Support and maintain ZTNA solutions
- Provide security infrastructure support across Azure and AWS connectivity and security environments
- Troubleshoot network and security incidents and contribute to incident resolution
- Work across routing, switching, IDS/IPS and load balancing technologies
- Support hardened Red Hat Linux and/or Microsoft Windows environments
- Implement security infrastructure changes, modifications and service enhancements
- Investigate technical issues, identify root causes and implement effective solutions
- Identify opportunities to improve the reliability, security and efficiency of existing services
- Manage multiple priorities while maintaining a strong focus on customer service and operational outcomes
- Build effective relationships with internal teams and technical stakeholders
- Maintain clear technical documentation and contribute to knowledge transfer
- Participate in an out-of-hours on-call roster
- Demonstrated hands-on experience in network and security infrastructure, ideally within an enterprise environment
- Strong experience with enterprise firewall technologies such as Palo Alto, Juniper SRX, Cisco or Check Point
- Solid understanding of network security principles and technologies
- Experience supporting and troubleshooting VPN technologies
- Strong knowledge of DNS, including protective DNS concepts
- Experience with Azure and/or AWS connectivity and security
- Strong networking fundamentals across routing and switching
- Experience with IDS/IPS and/or load balancing technologies
- Experience administering Red Hat Linux and/or Microsoft Windows
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities
- Experience responding to technical incidents and operational issues
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, particularly around technical documentation and knowledge sharing
- A proactive approach to identifying improvements and enhancing security services
- Ability to work autonomously while contributing effectively within a technical team
- Knowledge of scripting, automation or DevOps practices would be advantageous
- Experience within an MSP or managed services environment would be highly regarded
