Armed Security Officer (Level III)

We're looking for dependable, observant, and service-minded Armed Security Officers (Level III) to help maintain a safe and secure environment across our church, school, and other ministry facilities. In this role, you'll help protect employees, students, families, guests, and ministry assets through proactive patrols, security monitoring, access control, and effective incident response.

We're looking for individuals who demonstrate sound judgment, professionalism, and the ability to remain composed under pressure while treating every person with dignity, respect, and courtesy.

What You'll Do

• Conduct regular patrols of buildings, grounds, parking areas, and assigned facilities to identify safety concerns, suspicious activity, and potential security risks.

• Monitor surveillance cameras, alarms, and security systems to identify and respond to unusual activity or potential threats.

• Monitor and control access to facilities, verify credentials when required, and help prevent unauthorized entry.

• Respond promptly and appropriately to security incidents, emergencies, alarms, and requests for assistance.

• Carry an authorized firearm while on duty in accordance with applicable laws, licensing requirements, and organizational policies.

• Exercise sound judgment and follow established procedures regarding de-escalation, use of force, and emergency response.

• Identify and report safety hazards, security concerns, suspicious activity, and violations of established procedures.

• Assist with emergency response activities, evacuations, drills, and other preparedness initiatives.

• Conduct routine security checks, including securing doors, inspecting designated areas, and verifying that security equipment is functioning properly.

• Document incidents, observations, patrol activities, and actions taken through accurate and timely reports.

• Communicate effectively with supervisors, fellow officers, employees, and emergency responders as appropriate.

• Provide courteous assistance and directions to employees, students, families, visitors, and guests while maintaining a professional security presence.

What We're Looking For

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Current Texas Department of Public Safety Level III Commissioned Security Officer license, or eligibility to obtain the required license before beginning armed duties.

• Ability to meet and maintain applicable firearms qualification, licensing, training, and continuing education requirements.

• Previous experience in armed security, law enforcement, military service, or a related field preferred.

• Strong situational awareness, sound judgment, and the ability to remain calm and respond appropriately during emergencies.

• Knowledge of security procedures, emergency response practices, and appropriate use-of-force principles.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to de-escalate potentially confrontational situations.

• Ability to follow established procedures, maintain confidentiality, and prepare accurate incident reports.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a security team.

• Dependability, integrity, and a commitment to safety, professionalism, and service.

• Ability to perform regular patrols, remain standing or walking for extended periods, and respond to incidents as required.

• Flexibility to work assigned shifts, including evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed.
