Job Summary

The Security Officer is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for guests, employees, and hotel property. This role involves protecting hotel assets, preventing security incidents, responding to emergencies, and ensuring compliance with hotel policies, safety procedures, and local regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Patrol hotel premises regularly to ensure the safety and security of guests, employees, and property, and to identify and report any suspicious activities or potential risks.

  • Respond promptly and professionally to security incidents such as disturbances, theft, unauthorized access, or emergencies, coordinating with management and external authorities when required.

  • Monitor and enforce access control to restricted and staff-only areas, ensuring only authorized personnel are permitted entry.

  • Take immediate and appropriate action during emergency situations, including fire alarms, evacuations, medical emergencies, or natural disasters, in accordance with hotel emergency procedures.

  • Assist guests and employees by providing guidance, directions, and support during both routine operations and emergency situations.

  • Ensure compliance with hotel security policies, safety standards, and applicable local laws and regulations at all times.

  • Maintain accurate records of incidents, security breaches, and actions taken, and submit detailed reports to management as required.

  • Identify potential safety hazards or security risks and report them promptly to ensure corrective action is taken.

  • Support the training and guidance of new security officers and hotel associates on security procedures and emergency protocols.

  • Perform any other duties as assigned by management to support the effective operation of the security department and the hotel as a whole.

Experience

  • Previous experience in a security officer role or a related security position is preferred.

  • Knowledge of basic security procedures, access control, and incident response; experience using CCTV or security systems is an advantage.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with guests, colleagues, management, and external authorities.

  • Ability to remain alert and vigilant during long shifts and respond promptly and effectively to security incidents or emergencies.

  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify unusual behavior, safety hazards, or potential security risks.

  • Ability to remain calm, make sound decisions, and act appropriately in high-pressure or emergency situations.

  • Willingness and flexibility to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays, as required by operational needs.

  • Physically fit and capable of conducting regular patrols and standing or walking for extended periods.
