The ideal candidate will demonstrate professionalism, strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to remain alert while working independently. The officer must follow established post orders, facility procedures, and company policies while maintaining clear communication with supervisors, warehouse management, transportation personnel, and emergency responders as needed.

This is an unarmed security position focused on access control, crime deterrence, loss prevention, observation, documentation, and incident reporting.

  • Control and monitor entry to and exit from the warehouse property in accordance with established site procedures.
  • Verify the identity and authorization of employees, contractors, vendors, visitors, and delivery personnel before granting access.

  • Maintain accurate logs of incoming and outgoing vehicles, drivers, visitors, contractors, and other personnel as required.
  • Issue visitor badges, temporary access passes, or other credentials when authorized by site procedures.
  • Contact the appropriate warehouse representative or supervisor to confirm access when authorization is unclear.
  • Monitor vehicle traffic at designated gates, entrances, exits, and loading-area access points.
  • Report unauthorized entry attempts, access violations, suspicious behavior, and discrepancies in visitor or vehicle records.
  • Follow established procedures for denied entry, unauthorized vehicles, unattended vehicles, and other access-control concerns.

Warehouse and Property Security

  • Help protect the warehouse, grounds, equipment, inventory, vehicles, and other company property from theft, vandalism, unauthorized access, and damage.
  • Conduct scheduled and random foot patrols of designated areas, including building exteriors, parking lots, perimeter fencing, gates, loading docks, and other assigned locations.
  • Inspect designated doors, gates, fences, access points, and other security-sensitive areas for signs of tampering, damage, or unauthorized entry.
  • Monitor warehouse entrances, employee parking areas, truck staging areas, and other designated locations for unusual or suspicious activity.
  • Observe and report potential theft, property damage, safety hazards, security breaches, and violations of facility policies.
  • Monitor CCTV cameras, alarm systems, access-control equipment, radios, and other security systems when applicable.
  • Report malfunctioning equipment, damaged locks, unsecured gates, lighting issues, and other conditions that may compromise facility security.
  • Maintain awareness of activity around the guard shack and facility perimeter, including vehicle movement and pedestrian traffic.
  • Assist with enforcing site security procedures related to employee access, visitor access, restricted areas, and property removal.
  • Report suspected unauthorized removal of merchandise, equipment, supplies, or other company property in accordance with established procedures.

Surveillance, Reporting, and Communication

  • Maintain accurate daily activity logs, visitor registers, vehicle logs, patrol records, and shift reports.
  • Document unusual activity, access-control issues, policy violations, security incidents, and other significant observations in a timely and objective manner.
  • Immediately notify the designated supervisor or facility contact of significant security concerns.
  • Maintain professional communication with warehouse management, shipping and receiving personnel, transportation staff, fellow security officers, and other authorized personnel.
  • Respond promptly to alarms, calls for assistance, and reports of suspicious activity in accordance with post orders.
  • Preserve relevant observations and information following an incident and provide accurate details to supervisors or responding authorities.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding facility operations, security procedures, access credentials, personnel information, shipment details, and incident reports.
  • Complete shift handoff procedures and communicate outstanding concerns, unresolved incidents, and equipment issues to incoming personnel.

Emergency Response and Safety

  • Respond calmly and professionally to security incidents, medical emergencies, fire alarms, accidents, and other urgent situations within the scope of training.
  • Contact law enforcement, fire personnel, emergency medical services, or other emergency responders when necessary.
  • Notify designated facility representatives of emergencies, hazardous conditions, suspicious packages, unauthorized access, and other safety concerns.
