Security Officer - Evening Shift

Provides on-site security for a hospital, monitoring entrances, patrolling facilities, and responding to alerts including fire and CCTV surveillance.

Pay Range: $32.183 per hour
Job Description
- The Security Officer is responsible for maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment
for patients, visitors, physicians, and staff throughout the hospital campus. - Patrol hospital facilities, parking areas, and grounds to ensure the safety and security of
patients, visitors, employees, and property. - Provide security coverage at hospital entrances by monitoring access, screening visitors,
and responding appropriately to security concerns. - Deliver exceptional customer service by interacting professionally, respectfully, and
compassionately with patients, families, visitors, and staff. - Utilize effective verbal de-escalation techniques to safely manage disruptive, aggressive,
or emotionally distressed individuals while supporting a therapeutic healthcare
environment. - Respond promptly to emergencies, fire alarms, security incidents, workplace violence
events, and requests for assistance. - Assist clinical staff in maintaining a safe environment for patient care while preserving
patient dignity and confidentiality. - Monitor Closed Circuit Television (CCTV), security alarms, and communication systems
to identify and respond to potential safety concerns. - Detain, question, and investigate individuals when appropriate and in accordance with
hospital policies and applicable laws.
Job Requirements
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. required.
- Current New York State Security Guard License required.
- Current New York State 8-Hour Annual Security Guard Training Certificate required.
- Initial New York State 16-Hour On-the-Job Security Guard Training Certificate required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association
required. - Valid New York State Driver License required.
- Knowledge of CCTV systems and two-way radio communications.
- Previous hospital, healthcare, nursing home, law enforcement, military, or security
experience preferred. - Demonstrated ability to effectively de-escalate difficult situations and exercise sound
judgment in emergency situations. - Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills with the ability to
interact positively with patients, families, visitors, and staff. - Ability to work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
