Security Officer
Insight Hospital and Medical Center Chicago Security Officer
- Provides a safe and secure environment for employees, physicians, patients, visitors, equipment, systems and facilities in accordance with established departmental policies and procedures.
- Proactively patrols assigned areas (internally and externally) in an effort to identify suspicious persons or activity and initiating corrective action as appropriate.
- Observes employees for identification badges and counsels as needed.
- Provides escorts to employees, physicians, patients, and visitors; transporting them in wheelchairs, if necessary.
- Provides assistance to other security personnel and hospital employees as necessary to ensure adequate monitoring and follow-up of unusual occurrences.
- Provides assistance, direction, and guidance in resolving problems or complaints, informing supervisor of reportable situations and actions taken.
- Completes all paperwork accurately and as required (Daily Activity Log, Incident Reports, Vehicle Inspection Reports, etc.)
- Demonstrates discretion in handling confidential information; maintains confidentiality of all employee, patient, visitor, physician, hospital and security related information
- Responds to calls from nursing and other hospital departments in a timely manner to assist in the management of disorderly patients and/or visitors
- Immediately reports all safety hazards, malfunctioning equipment and other potential problems to supervisor
- Provides emergency access to various areas of the hospital when required and/or approved by a supervisor
- Enforces parking restrictions by issuing parking violation notices to employees who violate them
- Enforces visitor policy
- Releases deceased patients (per policy) as needed
- Responds to Emergency Codes (Blue, Red, Gray, Back, Orange and Pink) and properly documents such incidents on an incident report
- Monitors Closed Circuit Television (CCTV), alarm panels, radios, and other equipment as required
- Performs function in accordance with Insight Hospital's Mission, Values, and Behaviors
- Adheres to Insight's Look and Uniform Policy
- Performs related duties as needed or assigned by any Supervisor and/or Director
- High School graduate or equivalent
- State of Illinois Permanent Employee Registration Card
- Valid Drivers License and Good Driving Record (Must be insurable with Mercy's insurance carrier. This is a condition of employment)
- CPR?AED Certification (within 6 months of employment)
- Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Training (within 6 months of employment)
- Insight Handcuffing Training (within 6 months of employment)
- Basic computer skills
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational sills
- Obtain proper balance to insure hospital equipment supplies and facilities are protected without giving offense to visitors or employees
- Must be sensitive when dealing with people under stressful situations
- Must keep all information CONFIDENTIAL.
- Paid Sick Time - effective 90 days after employment
