Security Officer

Job Summary:

Provide a safe and secure environment for guests and team members while patrolling the casino floor and property in accordance with company and department policies, practices and procedures.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Warn or expel violators of rule infractions, such as loitering or carrying forbidden articles
  • Apprehend persons engaging in suspicious or criminal acts and turn over to law enforcement
  • Watch for and report irregularities
  • Observe departing team members to guard against theft of company property
  • Control entrance and access to secured and restricted areas to authorized personnel only
  • Check identification of guests for age requirement for gaming and alcohol purposes;
  • Ensure badges are issued for visitors, vendors and contractors
  • Issue name tags as necessary to team members
  • Monitor and assist in the enforcement of casino policies and federal, state and local laws
  • Prepare reports on incidents, such as property damage, unusual occurrences, criminal activities, suspicious circumstances, injuries
  • Assist in preliminary investigations.
  • Assist local law enforcement as requested
  • Report and document Gaming Control Board violations, company policies and procedures violations.
  • Escort, protect and secure monies during all transfers on and off Casino grounds, including fills on table games, table and machine box fills, between the cage and count room
  • Respond to emergency alarms associated with fire, presence of unauthorized persons and/or critical incidents
  • Call the ControlCenter, notify proper authorities, secure and control all company assets
  • Maintain a visible and accessible profile among casino guests and team members to create a sense of security to deter potential problems and to answer questions
  • Respond and resolve guest inquiries in a timely manner
  • Perform customer service continuously
  • Perform CPR and First Aid if trained
  • Practice QSVP while performing job duties and responsibilities
  • All other duties that may be assigned

Work Environment:

  • Must be willing to work any shift when necessary, including weekends and holidays
  • Must be able to tolerate areas containing second hand smoke
  • Must be able to work outdoors and be exposed to various environmental factors such as dust, extreme heat, and extreme cold
  • Must be willing to work in potentially dangerous situations

Job Requirements:

  • Must possess company approved weapon
  • Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English
  • Must be able to work in a fast paced environment
  • Must be able to exercise good judgment in handling a variety of situations
  • Must possess interpersonal skills with focused attention to guest needs
  • Must be assertive in handling conflicts
  • Must possess tact and diplomacy in dealing with the public and staff
  • Must possess the ability to maintain strict confidentiality of classified information
  • Must be able to calmly and forcefully handle situations involving aggressive people Must have High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must have Gaming Registration or ability to obtain same
  • Must have Alcohol Awareness Card or ability to obtain same
  • Must be able to obtain Weapon Qualification Card
  • Must be CPR certified
  • Previous experience required; at least six months
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must maintain a professional, neat and well-groomed appearance
  • Prior guest service experience, preferably in a casino setting is required
  • Prior experience in law enforcement, casino/hotel security, or industrial security is preferred
  • Knowledge of general first aid preferred
  • Must have familiarity with federal, state and local laws pertaining to law enforcement and gaming

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to access all areas of the casino
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs
  • Must be able to push and/or pull up to 200 lbs
  • Must be able to stand or walk for prolonged periods of time
  • Must be able to run after and apprehend perpetrators
  • Must be able to physically subdue and possibly handcuff perpetrators
  • Must be able to bend from waist, crouch, stretch, kneel, climb, twist and crawl without restrictions
  • Must have manual dexterity in hands and fingers
