The Senator John Heinz History Center, the largest history museum in Pennsylvania dedicated to history and an affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution, is seeking part-time and casual, Security Officers. Security Officers must be friendly yet firm and responsive to the needs of all customers. The Officer may be questioned by the public on a number of topics regarding the History Center – directions within, amenities, exhibit components, and facilities. The officer observes and operates security systems as well as assists with overall risk management – locating, correcting and/or reporting threats of all kinds
to the organization. The position demands that the officer maintain a working knowledge of the History Center exhibits, programs, and emergency response protocols while providing extraordinary customer service /interactions. Since the Officer at times be the only person in the building, a high degree of attentiveness and pro-activity will be necessary.
These are part-time and casual positions reporting to the Chief of Security.
