Security Officer - Unarmed

GENERAL SUMMARY: Under general supervision, the Security Officer is responsible for vigilantly monitoring Henry Ford Health facilities and properties to safeguard persons and property against injury or loss. This position requires the incumbent to direct visitors, patients, and employees to appropriate locations, actively intervene to prevent and control disturbances, and maintain strict communication protocols with appropriate personnel regarding all activities, events, and incidents. The Security Officer must exercise sound judgment in summoning appropriate assistance and responding to security concerns with professionalism and accountability.
- Conduct continuous and vigilant monitoring of Henry Ford Health facilities and properties to protect persons and assets from injury or loss
- Direct and guide visitors, patients, and employees to designated locations with professionalism and clarity
- Actively intervene to prevent, control, and de-escalate disturbances in a manner consistent with organizational policies and legal requirements
- Maintain detailed and accurate documentation of all activities, events, and security incidents
- Communicate critical information to appropriate personnel in a timely and professional manner
- Exercise sound judgment in assessing situations and summoning appropriate assistance or emergency services as required
- Maintain vigilance and situational awareness at all times while on duty
- Comply with all security protocols, procedures, and legal requirements
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED), required.
- Preference given to: Hospital / Healthcare related security experience
- -OR- Prior law enforcement experience in a sworn capacity, (Local, State, County, Federal)
- -OR- Four plus (4+) years of military experience with Honorable Discharge
- May be required to use an intermediate weapon.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:
- Maintain a valid unexpired Michigan operator's license.
- Satisfactorily complete state minimum training certification requirements and required testing.
- Annual training and testing requirements must be maintained.
