Job Summary:
The Security Operations Center (SOC) Operator is responsible for monitoring security systems and communications, receiving and evaluating security-related information, coordinating appropriate notifications and responses, and maintaining accurate records of SOC activity. The position may monitor CCTV, access control, panic and duress alarms, intrusion alarms, and other approved security systems. SOC Operators communicate with security officers, supervisors, facility personnel, and emergency services as directed by policy and procedure. Accurate, timely, and complete documentation is an essential function of this position.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Continuously monitor assigned CCTV, access control, alarm, and other security systems during the assigned shift.
- Receive, evaluate, and prioritize security-related calls, radio traffic, alarms, panic or duress activations, and other requests for assistance.
- Promptly notify or dispatch on-site security personnel, supervisors, facility representatives, law enforcement, fire, or emergency medical services as required by General Orders, Post Orders, or established procedures.
- Maintain situational awareness of active incidents and provide timely updates to responding security personnel and supervisors.
- Maintain professional radio and telephone communications and accurately relay names, locations, descriptions, directions, and other critical information.
- Monitor officer status and welfare when required and initiate appropriate follow-up when scheduled check-ins are missed or assistance is requested.
- Monitor access-control activity and assist with approved access-control functions in accordance with established authorization procedures.
- Recognize and report suspicious activity, security-system faults, camera outages, alarm troubles, access-control issues, and other conditions requiring attention.
- Maintain a complete and accurate SOC activity log for each assigned shift, documenting alarms, calls, notifications, dispatches, significant observations, system issues, and actions taken.
- Prepare clear, objective, chronological, and detailed Incident Reports or other required reports for significant security, safety, criminal, medical, suspicious, or disruptive events.
- Accurately record names, dates, times, locations, descriptions, system events, notifications, responding personnel, actions taken, and final disposition when known.
- Preserve and appropriately document relevant CCTV footage, alarm information, access-control records, or other security-system information when directed or required by procedure.
- Maintain the confidentiality of security information, video, access records, personal information, and other sensitive information encountered in the course of duty.
- Complete shift turnover and communicate unresolved incidents, equipment problems, special instructions, and other relevant information to the relieving operator.
- Immediately notify supervision of serious incidents, unusual activity, significant system failures, or circumstances requiring management attention.
- Follow company General Orders, Site-Specific Post Orders, emergency procedures, notification protocols, and established chain of command.
- Maintain assigned SOC workstations and equipment and promptly report damaged, missing, or malfunctioning equipment or systems.
- Attend required training, meetings, briefings, and system training.
- Perform other security-related duties as assigned.
- Follow all policies and procedures set forth by Echota Security Services.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
