Security or Onboarding Engineer - Managed Security Services
Summary
A security engineer at a managed security services provider who designs, deploys, and onboards enterprise clients onto Bastion's managed security services, owning the post-sales client relationship. Core tech includes Microsoft Defender and Sentinel, CrowdStrike EDR/NG SIEM, plus SSE, email protection, and CSPM tooling.
The role
As our Security Engineer you are responsible for managing the enablement of various Bastion Managed Security Services and products, including but not limited to: designing, building, implementing, deployment, onboarding, and documentation, for new and existing customers.
You own the initial post-sales client relationship, managing internal and external stakeholders through the service enablement and operationalisation phases. Ensuring technical excellence and consistency across all solutions deployments.
The main responsibilities of the role are:
- Solutions design and deployment
- Client onboarding and stakeholder management
- Coordinating projects /engagement activities
- Contributing within the collaborative SOC environment.
(this is not a graduate role, and experience must be from paid permanent employment, not study or home labs)

Who we’re looking for
You consider yourself to be the best Security or Onboarding Engineer in your organisation, are results orientated, and add value to the clients you work with. You are already based in New Zealand, with a valid work visa or permanent right to work.
Critical in this role, your technical expertise includes:
- Microsoft Security Stack
- Defender
- Sentinel
- CrowdStrike (highly regarded)
- EDR
- NG SIEM
- Detection tuning and configuration experience (prior SOC Analyst experience)
Ideally hands on experience with the following products:
- SSE solutions like Netskope or Zscaler
- Email protection solutions like Abnormal, Sublime and Proofpoint
- Cloud security posture management solutions like Wiz and CrowdStrike CSPM.
Other experience we’re looking for:
- 2–3 years’ experience in a Security Engineering or Onboarding engineer position
- Must have worked extensively on implementing and designing solutions for medium to enterprise-level customers
- Ideally a background within a managed services environment
- Strong communication skills, translating technical and security information to non-technical stakeholders
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects at the same time, including coordination and managing milestones
- Strong stakeholder management skills, comfortable managing client relationships through complex onboarding engagements
- Industry Certification for Sentinel (SC-200) or CrowdStrike (CCFA or CCFR) is beneficial.
