About the role

Are you an experienced relationship leader with strong cyber security knowledge and the ability to influence across a complex organisation?

As a Security Relationship Manager within our national Cyber Security function, you'll strengthen cyber defence, resilience and capability across Health NZ and the wider health sector. You'll lead strategic engagement for your assigned sector segment and build trusted relationships with senior leaders, partners and stakeholders.

You'll work with the wider Cyber Security function to understand sector needs, risks and priorities, and ensure they are reflected in strategies, roadmaps, services and programmes of work.

Working across Health NZ and with external partners, you'll provide:

  • Strategic engagement across your assigned health sector segment
  • Clear advice and thought leadership on cyber security risks, opportunities and priorities
  • Alignment of cyber security roadmaps with organisational and partner objectives
  • Connection between stakeholders, security leaders and technical teams so requirements and risks are understood and addressed
  • Support for partnership agreements, service agreements, MoUs, NDAs and other key relationship arrangements
  • Insight into emerging cyber security threats, trends and technologies and their impact on the health sector
  • Oversight of key work to support quality advice and outcomes across the Cyber Security function

Through these partnerships, you'll help Health NZ understand and respond to cyber security risks while ensuring services keep pace with sector needs.

This is an opportunity to work at a senior level on nationally significant cyber security priorities and help shape a more resilient and secure health system for Aotearoa.

About the team

Our Cyber Security function sits within Health NZ's Data & Digital group and plays a critical role in protecting the organisation, its people, systems and information.

You'll work alongside senior security leaders, technical specialists and other Security Relationship Managers, while building strong connections across Health NZ and with external health sector partners, government agencies, suppliers and professional bodies.

The team works collaboratively to understand sector needs, strengthen capability and align security priorities with Health NZ's wider direction.

About you

You're a senior relationship and strategic leader who builds trust, influences decisions and brings people together around shared outcomes. You can work across complex environments and translate cyber security concepts into clear advice for senior and non-technical audiences.

You'll also bring:

  • Senior management experience in relationship management, governance and risk management, ideally within cyber security, technology, business or health environments.
  • Experience developing strategic plans and roadmaps aligned with organisational objectives.
  • A strong track record managing customer, partner and stakeholder relationships.
  • Broad experience across service delivery lifecycles and controls, including business cases, board papers, RFPs, contracts, service agreements, MoUs, NDAs and risk reporting.
  • Understanding of cyber security frameworks and practices, such as NIST and ISO 27001.
  • Strong influencing, negotiation, communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts to executive and non-technical audiences.
  • The ability to build constructive relationships with diverse stakeholders and understand different operational and cultural contexts.
  • Strong planning, organisation and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and respond calmly to challenges.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach and commitment to continuous improvement and professional development.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in technology, clinical, business or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.

Experience working within the Aotearoa New Zealand health sector is preferred, along with experience or understanding of business change management frameworks and principles.

You will also demonstrate an understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and how to apply its principles in a meaningful way within your role. Relevant professional certifications are highly desirable.

A commitment to collaboration, continuous learning, innovation and high standards of integrity and professional conduct will be essential for success in this role.
