This position is located in the Office of the Under Secretary of War for Intelligence and Security (OUSW(I&S)), Office of the Director for Defense Intelligence (Counterintelligence, Law Enforcement, & Security) (DDI(CL&S)), Physical and Operations Security Directorate.

This Position is a Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS) position in the Excepted Service under 10 U.S.C. 1601 If selected, Federal employees currently serving in the competitive service must acknowledge that they will voluntarily leave the competitive service by accepting an offer of employment for a DCIPS excepted service positions. If selected, non-DCIPS candidates must acknowledge that the position they have been selected for is in the excepted service and covered by DCIPS. For more information see https://dcips.defense.gov/ Incumbents typical work assignments may include the following: The incumbent provides policy expertise to assist the Director, Physical and Operations Security in exercising responsibilities for policy and oversight regarding the Department of War (DoW) physical security program and other security related projects, with a particular focus on policy related to compartmented facilities Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIFs) and Special Access Program Facilities (SAPFs)). Serves as an authority and advisor on the formulation, development, and strategic oversight of policy governing compartmented facilities rather than on-the-ground implementation of policy. Analyzes, develops, and oversees policies and procedures that pertain to all aspects of compartmented facilities (SCIFs and SAPFs) within DoW. Identifies weaknesses or vulnerabilities and develops and coordinates new or revised security policies and procedures to correct deficiencies or accommodate new challenges. Provides assessments and recommendations concerning measures that should be taken to improve the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of Component implementations of DoW physical security policies, to include development and use of cost effective, interagency, industry, or other innovative approaches and resources.
