Security Specialist
About the Position: Performs duties as a Security Specialist supporting the security programs at a multi-purpose U.S. Army Corps of Engineers navigation division support industrial facility recognized as part of the nation's critical infrastructure. Also supports the security program of two remote survey field facilities, two ocean-going dredge vessels, survey vessel fleet, and multiple real property sites.
Develop, administer and continuously maintain the Physical Security Program and related plans to ensure protection of government property and personnel at all times under all Force Protection conditions
Integrate plans and direct the application of security policies based on knowledge of principles, methods, techniques, practices, systems and equipment.
Conduct regular vulnerability assessments of Mission Essential Vulnerable Areas (MEVAs), vessels, and properties for regulatory compliance. Will visually inspect the perimeters, to include doors, windows, gates and other means of ingress.
Maintain the Division Security Awareness program using good judgment in the selection of content and distribution methods intended to reinforce good security practices.
Monitor and adjust Force Protection condition developments to maintain the highest appropriate level of project security. Prepares reports on all incidents/offenses occurring at the Project.
Responsible for all issues involving issuing or revocation of security credentials granting physical access to Project areas and/or cyber access to the electronic security system.
Evaluate and ensure that access cards issued permit entry only to Mission Essential Vulnerable Areas (MEVAs) specifically approved for the applicant by the Plant Branch Chief or designated authority.
