Security Supervisor
Summary
Oversees a team of security staff at a residential facility, enforcing safety policies, managing records, and investigating incidents in compliance with state and federal regulations.
Job Summary:
This position is primarily responsible for coordinating the activities of the security staff in order to maintain a safe environment for residents, visitors, and employees. Performs a variety of management functions in planning and implementing security, loss prevention and safety policies and procedures.
Maintains attitudes and behaviors that demonstrate and uphold the Mission Statement of Trinity Woods (TW), supports the TW core values and shows an understanding of TW’ person-centered philosophy.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent Military experience.
- Minimum of 7 years experience in law enforcement or security field. Supervisory experience preferred.
- Must be armed C.L.E.E.T. certified.
- Thorough knowledge of law enforcement procedures, state law and company rules and regulations.
- Working knowledge of the interpretive application of federal and state occupational safety and health standards and regulations.
- Strong planning and organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including a positive “Customer Service” attitude
- Strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
- Ability to create, maintain, and manage electronic records, databases, reports, and security-related documentation.
Responsibilities:
- Plans, coordinates and directs activities such as guard and patrol of physical property; gate personnel and access control; escort service for emergency vehicles; monitor systems response; and investigation of accidents and criminal acts.
- Develop and implement security procedures and compliance with TW policies and procedures and applicable state and federal laws.
- Reviews and evaluates reports prepared by security staff regarding investigations of improper campus activities.
- Conducts follow-up investigation of reports of criminal activity.
- Analyses traffic and parking problems and make recommendations for new or revised programs, policies, and procedures.
- Develops and recommends new procedures and approaches to safety and loss prevention based on reports of incidents, accidents, and other relevant information.
- Assists management in enforcing safety regulations and codes.
- Self or designee participates in safety committee meetings.
- Develops, maintains, and administers departmental schedules to ensure adequate staffing levels and operational coverage.
- Maintains electronic databases, incident records, security reports, and other department documentation, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Acts as a leader and manager of the Security department ensuring productivity, efficiency and accuracy in work performed.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with TW’ policies and applicable laws.
- Identifies unacceptable performance and behavior exhibited by staff and takes appropriate action; utilizes progressive discipline policy when appropriate and maintains documentation as required.
- Conducts annual performance evaluations of assigned staff in conjunction with the Director of Facilities and the Vice President of Human Resources.
- Supervises and coordinates the work schedules, assignments, training, and daily activities of Security Officers to ensure effective departmental operations.
