Security Training and Safety Manager

Job Summary:

Oversee the Security Department training modules and Academy, Risk and Safety Compliance for the property, Life Safety hardware and devices, Transportation fleet and services, and all Security Entertainment including riders, run of show, pre-show planning, and artist/facility protection. Maintains policies and programs to ensure the physical safety of the casino, guests, employees, property, and assets; comply with Virginia Lottery security requirements and the casino internal controls.

• Directly oversee Security Trainer, indirectly oversee Security Event staff and Transportation team members.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Creates. Plans, and Facilitates all Security training programs and modules for the department. Including but not limited to: New Officer Academy, Veteran Officer Academy, CPR/First Aid, PPCT, Verbal Judo, Guest Service, Risk Management, Report Writing, and Radio Etiquette.
• Manages the Transportation fleet and program. Coordinates the scheduling and transportation of all VIPS, Executives, and Entertainment. Ensures the transportation fleet is well maintained, operational, and represents property in a positive light.
• Manages the Transportation Team members scheduled on an On-Call basis.
• Works and Coordinates directly with local Emergency response partners to ensure compliance with local/county/state regulations for inspections and safety compliance.
• Will coordinate/assist Legal Counsel in the Risk/Liability screening process as it relates to potential claims and litigation against the Rivers Portsmouth property.
• Maintains detailed records of all training, certifications, and recognition for all Security Team Members: Inspired Service Observation Process; Hourly Performance Reviews; Secret Shop Program.

• Manages the Security Team Members assigned to assist with Entertainment, Special events, transportation requests, and Safety Inspections.
• Confers with the Director of Security to recommend policy changes, determines the need for programs and training, and coordinates programs with the casino goals and objectives and regulatory requirements.

• Plan/Coordinate/Lead tabletop training and scenarios to Executives of Rivers Casino Portsmouth.
• Audit safety equipment and inspection reports to ensure compliance with Local/State/Federal regulations.
• Maintain open communication across all levels of the organization.
• Deliver a guest service experience that exceeds expectations and builds loyalty.
• Acts as the Head of Security in the absence of the Director of Security.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

• Must be 21 years of age or older
• Advanced technical knowledge of Risk, Life safety, Entertainment, and Compliance required.
• Background and knowledge of security operations, Occupational Safety and
• Health Administration (OSHA) regulations, safety, investigation, and legal issues required.
• Five or more years of progressive gaming, security, and/or public safety
• management or equivalent combination of experience required.
• Available to work flexible shifts, weekends, and holidays.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Certifications, Licenses, and/or Registrations:

• Ability to obtain and maintain license as required by jurisdiction(s).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Prior experience and familiarity with iTrak RMS system.
• Previous experience in developing effective training programs and materials.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to work in an environment with moderate to loud noise, bright lights,

smoke and dust.

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
• Ability to work flexible shifts and days of the week, including holidays.
• Able to work with others while maintaining a positive and professional demeanor.
