Semiconductor Measurement and Data Analysis Trainee (f/m/div)
Your Role
Key responsibilities in your new role
- Design: Design and prototype an experimental setup for basic static characterization of power semiconductor devices for an educational lab environment
- Planning: Define the measurement plan and procedure, including selection of devices, instruments, and fixturing/contacting approach
- Operations: Set up, calibrate, and operate measurement equipment; ensure measurement traceability and data quality
- Data analysis: Collect, pre-process, and analyze data; apply appropriate statistical methods to extract trends and quantify uncertainty
- Reporting: Visualize and communicate results; present recommendations and next steps
- Documentation: Document procedures, configurations, safety/ESD guidelines, and student-facing instructions in a clear, reproducible manner
- Collaboration: Collaborate with researchers at the BME Physics Department and internal engineers; coordinate lab time and shared resources
- Compliance: Adhere to lab safety, ESD handling, and good measurement practices
Your Profile
Qualifications and skills to help you succeed
- Education: Currently enrolled at BME in Physics or Physicist-Engineer ; availability for at least 6 months
- Fundamentals: Strong background in semiconductor device physics(e.g., pn junctions, MOS devices, carrier transport, characterization principles)
- Measurement know how: Familiarity with metrology/measurement techniques, error analysis, calibration, and uncertainty
- Data skills: Proficiency in data analysis tools such as Python or MATLAB
- Working style: Autonomous, detail oriented, and proactive; able to structure tasks and drive them to completion
- Communication: Excellent communication skills; English is required
- Availability and location: 10–20 hours per week during the academic term; 20–40 hours per week during summer; ability to work on site both at our location and at BME’s Physics Department as needed
- Knowledge of power electronics and wide bandgap devices (SiC, GaN), even at hobby electronics level
- Experience with LabVIEW and instrument control
