Fresh Start in Education are looking for an experienced and person-centred SEN Learning Support Assistant to work on a 1:1 basis with a young woman with autism, learning and communication needs in her home or out in the community in the Nailsea area. This role involves planning and delivering creative, practical and engaging learning sessions to support life skills, communication and emotional regulation, alongside developing basic numeracy and literacy.
Whether it’s helping the young person become more confident in day-to-day life, supporting her to enjoy experiences in the community, planning and delivering ASDAN courses or encouraging her love of art, music and creativity, you’ll help our student create a brighter future.

- Providing 1:1 support to a young person in their home or community in the Nailsea area
- Planning and delivering learning and engagement opportunities that reflect the learner’s needs, interests and abilities
- Engaging with students who may have ASD, ADHD, GDD or complex needs (MLD, SLD) and SEMH needs and helping them achieve outcomes at their pace
- Supporting with and teaching emotional regulation strategies
- Running sessions during the school day (term time only) that typically last 3 to 5 hours
- Working flexibly as part of a compassionate, expert-led team that values you and your skills
We welcome applications from people who have:
- Experience (at least 1 year) as SEN specialists, teachers, teaching assistants, tutors and support workers who have directly supported young people with SEN and complex needs
- Experience supporting young people to develop emotional regulation skills
- A minimum of 2 consistent weekdays available
- An up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding and child protection
- £25–£36 per hour, depending on experience
- £15 per session resources allowance and travel subsidy
- Free access to counselling and wellbeing services, CPD and pension options
- Dedicated line manager, support and inclusion in a supportive, expert team
- Bank staff role (PAYE), offering both short-term and long-term placements
