Senior ABAP Engineer (m/f/d)

We're looking for a Senior ABAP Engineer (m/f/d) to join our team in Germany in a hybrid working mode.
Every business system that supports growth must adapt to new demands without adding unnecessary complexity. As a Senior ABAP Engineer, you will help the client modernize and strengthen its SAP platform while delivering reliable solutions for evolving business needs.
Working at the intersection of technical expertise and business transformation, you will translate complex requirements into scalable ABAP solutions, contribute to AI-supported innovations and help improve the resilience of the client’s technology landscape. This role offers the opportunity to shape how the client responds to new challenges through modern development practices and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop and maintain ABAP-based functionality for the client’s SAP platform
- Apply modern ABAP development practices, including syntax beyond ABAP 7.5
- Develop AI-related implementations such as Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers and AI-supported automations
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with a focus on ABAP development
- Apply general DevOps practices, including CI/CD processes, GitHub build pipelines and GitHub Actions
- Collaborate with developers, stakeholders and project teams to ensure successful delivery
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes and technical solutions
Requirements
- Profound knowledge of ABAP programming and ABAP Objects
- Strong experience with modern ABAP syntax beyond version 7.5
- Practical experience with ABAP CDS and OData v2/v4
- Familiarity with ABAP RESTful Application Programming Model (RAP) is advantageous
- General understanding of DevOps processes and CI/CD principles
- Practical knowledge of GitHub-based development workflows, build pipelines or comparable tools such as Azure DevOps or GitLab
- Working knowledge of Cloud Foundry is advantageous
- Experience applying AI to improve productivity or automate processes
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to deliver results in complex and changing environments
- Fluent German and good English communication skills
