Senior Account Executive, Risk Management

This senior leadership role combines strategic account management, commercial insurance expertise, and team leadership across a portfolio of large and complex clients.
You will oversee a Risk Management account executive team while personally managing several high-value client relationships.
The role requires close coordination across brokerage, risk control, claims, financial lines, and support functions to ensure consistent service delivery.
You will guide renewal strategies, analyze complex financial and claims information, and develop tailored insurance program solutions.
You will also play a visible role in client and prospect meetings, helping strengthen relationships and identify opportunities for expanded business.
Success in this position requires strong technical insurance knowledge, commercial judgment, organization, and the ability to lead experienced professionals.

Accountabilities:
- Lead and develop the Risk Management account executive team, including staffing, training, account assignments, goal setting, workflow oversight, and day-to-day management.
- Serve as a senior resource and mentor to Account Executives, Associate Account Executives, Account Managers, and other service professionals.
- Coordinate brokerage, risk control, claims, financial lines, and related teams to ensure client expectations and service commitments are consistently met.
- Personally manage a portfolio of several large and highly complex commercial insurance accounts.
- Establish and monitor critical timelines for annual client insurance renewals and ensure all activities remain on schedule.
- Participate in and lead client renewal meetings, presenting results, recommendations, program structures, and other relevant information.
- Participate in prospect presentations and client meetings as a senior insurance and risk management representative.
- Analyze complex financial information, claims data, insurance program structures, and other client risk information to support informed recommendations.
- Identify opportunities to expand services and deepen existing client relationships through additional risk management and insurance solutions.
- Prepare complete renewal submissions for marketing and coordinate the submission and processing of required materials.
- Analyze quotes for accuracy, maintain detailed comparison spreadsheets, and evaluate alternatives received from insurance markets.
- Support data analysis to determine appropriate program structures and coverage options.
- Develop client-facing presentations incorporating quotes, spreadsheets, contract comparisons, recommendations, and other marketing materials.
- Oversee the implementation of new and renewed programs and ensure a smooth transition through completion.
- Review insurance company documentation for accuracy and coordinate corrections or revisions when necessary.
- Supervise support personnel and help optimize workflows, resources, and service delivery across the team.
- Travel periodically to client and prospect meetings and represent the organization professionally in senior-level interactions.
- Bachelor’s degree required; substantial relevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Current state-specific insurance license required.
- 15+ years of commercial insurance experience, with significant experience managing large and complex accounts.
- Proven experience in an Account Executive capacity within commercial insurance and risk management.
- Broking, insurance placement, or market-facing experience is strongly preferred and demonstrates advanced technical insurance expertise.
- Strong understanding of commercial insurance programs, renewals, placements, claims, risk management, financial lines, and client service.
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing, mentoring, and developing insurance professionals.
- Strong analytical skills, including the ability to interpret financial information, claims data, quotes, and program structures.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with confidence presenting to clients, prospects, senior stakeholders, and internal teams.
- Strong multitasking, organization, prioritization, and time-management capabilities.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and related business applications.
- Professional presence, sound business judgment, and a strong customer-service orientation.
- Ability to build trusted relationships with sophisticated commercial clients and understand their evolving risk management needs.
- Willingness and ability to travel approximately 20% of the time for client and prospect meetings.
- Annual salary range of $250,000–$275,000.
