Senior Accountant (Finance Operations & Controls)
Summary
Senior Accountant responsible for financial accounting, compliance, tax reporting, and cost analysis in Singapore, using ERP systems and adhering to local financial standards.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Accounting & Closing
- Manage the full accounting cycle, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and employee expense claims.
- Lead monthly and annual financial close processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
- Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial variance analyses.
- Oversee cash and bank reconciliations and ensure completeness of financial records.
Compliance, Tax & Financial Reporting
- Support tax-related matters and statutory compliance requirements.
- Ensure accurate preparation and submission of GST returns in accordance with local regulations.
- Maintain compliance with applicable financial reporting standards and regulatory requirements.
Planning & Analysis
- Assist in budgeting and forecasting exercises.
- Deliver financial insights and analysis to support business planning and operational decision-making.
Costing & Operations Finance
- Manage product costing activities, inventory valuation, work-in-progress accounting, and cost variance analysis.
- Partner with operational stakeholders to improve cost transparency and financial controls.
- Support initiatives that enhance profitability and operational efficiency.
Systems & Continuous Improvement
- Contribute to finance system optimisation and ERP-related initiatives.
- Participate in system implementations, upgrades, and automation projects.
- Review and improve finance processes, controls, and documentation to drive operational excellence.
Audit & Governance
- Coordinate and support external and internal audit activities.
- Strengthen internal control frameworks and compliance processes.
- Lead or contribute to cross-functional finance and business improvement projects.
Requirements
Experience
- At least 8 years of accounting and finance experience.
- Experience managing full sets of accounts.
- Exposure to manufacturing, operations, or inventory-intensive environments would be advantageous.
Technical Competencies
- Strong understanding of financial reporting standards and accounting principles.
- Knowledge of indirect tax requirements and statutory compliance.
- Advanced Excel skills, including data analysis and reporting.
- Experience with ERP platforms is preferred; exposure to cloud-based finance systems is advantageous.
Qualifications
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Professional accounting certification (e.g., ACCA, CPA, CA or equivalent) is preferred.
