We are looking for a Senior Accountant to join our Record to Report team in Sofia, Bulgaria. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality accounting and financial reporting services for selected countries and processes, coordinating month-end close activities, and ensuring accurate and compliant financial records. This is a great opportunity for an experienced accounting professional to take on a senior, end-to-end role in an international environment and contribute to the continuous improvement of Kalmar’s finance operations.
What are your key responsibilities:

- Quality, compliance & controls: Ensure accurate data in company systems, deliver error-free processes, and work in full compliance with accounting policies, KAS, internal control framework, and legal requirements.
- Stakeholder management: Act as a primary point of contact for selected partners and processes, handling complex accounting topics, unusual transactions, and ad-hoc requests in a professional and timely manner.
- Process improvement & projects: Participate in and support continuous improvement initiatives, transitions, and cross-functional projects across the end-to-end finance processes (OTC, ITP, HR, RTR).
- Knowledge sharing & team support: Lead or participate in cross-training, support new team members, provide back-up for key RTR roles, and build strong, collaborative relationships within the team.
What we offer you:
- Rewards that truly count: Attractive compensation package, performance-based bonuses, and food vouchers to support your lifestyle and recognize your contributions.
- Safety that moves us forward: Comprehensive medical and dental insurance, plus access to an Employee Assistance Program offering counselling, legal and financial advice, and crisis support for you and your dependents.
- People who move together: A collaborative workplace with 25 days of paid vacation, engaging company events, and a modern office in Sofia just 5 minutes from the metro. You can also work from anywhere in Bulgaria, with only occasional office presence when business needs require it.
- Purpose that drives change: Continuous learning and career growth through our internal learning platform, giving you access to hundreds of online courses to help you develop and advance your career.
Become part of our global network of 5,200 professionals across 120+ countries, where your work supports reliable operations, sustainability, and meaningful impact worldwide.
What you bring to the role:
- Education & experience: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics, with at least 5 years of relevant experience in finance operations, preferably in a Shared Services environment.
- Process & systems knowledge: Strong understanding of end-to-end Record-to-Report processes and hands-on experience with ERP systems and Google Workspace.
- Analytical & problem-solving skills: Ability to handle complex accounting topics, identify root causes, and manage unusual transactions with confidence.
- Collaboration & communication: Strong interpersonal skills, professional communication style, and full proficiency in English.
- Ownership & proactive mindset: High level of accountability, attention to detail, and a continuous improvement mindset.
