Description

If you are an experienced accountant who enjoys running a clean month-end, owning the balance sheet, and working independently with a supportive Head of Finance, this is a stable, senior role with a team that values trust and integrity.

About the Opportunity

Our client is a values-led Australian retailer of Christian books, Bibles, music, and giftware, with stores across the country and an online store. It is a Christian organisation, and its values of Community, Christ-Centredness, Integrity, and Servanthood shape how the team works every day.

The Senior Accountant joins the Australian finance team as an offshore member, replacing a valued senior colleague who is moving on. You will work closely with the Head of Finance, who will train you, check in with you regularly, and then trust you to run your work on your own.

What You'll Do

• Run month-end close, including journal entries, depreciation, and amortisation

• Own balance sheet reconciliations and reporting, and oversee bank reconciliations

• Prepare management reports, budgets, and forecasts, including cash flow forecasting

• Assist with inventory and stock adjustments and quarterly royalty reconciliation

• Support BAS, payroll tax, and not-for-profit compliance, with training on Australian rules

• Work with external accountants, auditors, and payroll providers, and prepare audit documentation

• Support NetSuite improvement and document system entries for costing

• Support store and department teams with profit and loss, expenditure, and account queries

What You Bring

• A qualification in accounting, business, or commerce; CPA is an advantage

• At least 3 to 4 years in an accounting role, at a senior level, able to work independently after training

• Advanced Excel skills

• Hands-on month-end and balance sheet experience, plus management reporting, budgeting, or forecasting

• Maturity and accountability: you raise questions early and take ownership of your work

• Strong attention to detail, financial acumen, and clear communication

• Nice to have: Australian BAS and payroll tax, not-for-profit compliance, or NetSuite experience (training provided)

Why You'll Love This Role

• Join a mature, long-tenured team that values experience and collaboration

• Real ownership of month-end and the balance sheet, with a supportive Head of Finance

• Training on Australian compliance and NetSuite

• Work for a purpose-driven organisation with a clear set of values

• Work alongside colleagues in the office, with regular catch-ups and support

• Broad exposure across retail, inventory, royalties, and reporting
