The Southern Alabama Regional Council on Aging (SARCOA) is looking for a skilled and dedicated full-time Senior Accountant to join our mission-driven team! SARCOA supports seniors and individuals with disabilities across seven counties: Barbour, Coffee, Covington, Dale, Geneva, Henry, and Houston. As a Senior Accountant, you will play a critical role in supporting SARCOA’s financial operations, ensuring accurate financial records, responsible financial management, and compliance with applicable accounting standards and funding requirements.

What You'll Do:

• Maintain accurate financial records and perform account and bank reconciliations.
• Prepare financial reports, journal entries, and supporting documentation.
• Assist with budgeting, financial analysis, and cost allocation.
• Monitor contractor financial records and review compliance with contractual requirements.
• Support audits and prepare financial documentation for reporting and compliance purposes.
• Collaborate with the Accounting Manager and accounting team to support efficient financial operations.

What We're Looking For:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university.
• At least five (5) years of professional accounting experience.
• Governmental accounting experience preferred.
• Willingness to learn and perform accounting functions outside of primary responsibilities, participate in cross-training, and provide backup support to other accounting team members as needed.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Strong computer skills, including proficiency with spreadsheets and accounting software.
• Ability to communicate effectively and maintain confidential financial information.
• Valid driver's license, current auto insurance, and ability to travel when needed.
