Senior Accounting Analyst
Amwins is a leading global specialty insurance distributor, placing close to $50B in annual premium with a team of more than 8,100 employees worldwide. We believe that when we take care of our people, they take care of our clients — so we hire the best talent in the industry and invest in their growth. That philosophy carries through to how we’re structured: we’re a flat organization, with leadership that drives success from the bottom up rather than sitting at the top of the business. It’s also why our people are the largest single shareholder group in the company, with 1,875 employee shareholders sharing in what we build together.
Join the Amwins Access Finance Team.
This position sits within the Finance team dedicated to Amwins Access — one of Amwins’ five divisions — and reports to the Senior Accounting Manager with accountability across the full income statement and balance sheet. This role carries outsized visibility — regular exposure to both divisional and group leadership — along with real opportunity to collaborating with other divisions and functions as your career grows. This is a role built for someone who wants to take ownership of complex problems end-to-end, drive them to resolution, and present findings directly to leadership. We’re looking for someone inquisitive enough to ask why, confident enough to challenge how we do things today, and collaborative enough to pull in the right people to find an answer.
You’ll be a vital member of the team, responsible for:
- Preparing and recording journal entries as part of month-end close.
- Performing reconciliations across profit sharing, personnel costs, and entity-level accounts.
- Investigating and resolving discrepancies at the general ledger level before they become a problem.
- Delivering variance analysis across revenue, expense, and balance sheet accounts — explaining the “why” behind the numbers, not just the “what.”
- Preparing monthly and quarterly financial reporting for verticals across the division.
- Tracking program costs against budget and prior year.
- Supporting the annual profit-sharing process, from compilation through payment.
- Partnering across business units and functions to drive answers and resolve open questions.
- Presenting findings and recommendations directly to leadership.
- Owning opportunities to improve how we work, from idea through execution.
We’re looking for people with:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 4+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience, ideally within a multi-entity organization.
- Strong technical grounding in the close process, GL reconciliation, and balance sheet/income statement dynamics.
- Comfortable owning problems independently and communicating findings clearly.
- Able to move fast and juggle competing priorities without dropping what’s already on your plate.
- Naturally curious and driven, with a willingness to challenge the status quo and take initiative.
- Advanced Excel skills; comfort with AI tools and other emerging technology a plus.
