Senior Agent Engineer
Senior Agent Engineer (AI/LLM Systems)
IT Labs is seeking a Senior Agent Engineer to join a high-impact initiative delivering advanced AI agent and orchestration frameworks for one of the world’s leading consulting organizations, supporting a major transformation project for a prominent Dutch insurance company.
This role is hands-on, highly collaborative, and spans four parallel squads working at the forefront of autonomous agent design, LLM integration, and multi-agent system orchestration at enterprise scale.
What You’ll Do
Architect, design, and develop robust production-grade autonomous agents and orchestration frameworks (using platforms such as LangChain, AutoGen, and CrewAI).
Lead and guide technical implementation across four squads to ensure standardized, reusable agent architectures.
Integrate Large Language Models (LLMs) with external APIs, proprietary toolkits, and various data sources to enable dynamic tool-calling and cross-system workflows.
Optimize prompt engineering techniques, context window management, and long-running agent workflow stability and state handling.
Develop monitoring, logging, and evaluation tools to trace agent decision-making and LLM outputs for auditability and performance tracking.
Collaborate closely with cross-functional squads, sharing knowledge and setting technical direction while ensuring delivery excellence.
Leverage public cloud platforms (preferably AWS) to design, deploy, and scale AI solutions securely and efficiently.
What We’re Looking For
5+ years of relevant software engineering or AI/ML experience, with a focus on agentic architectures, LLMs, or comparable distributed systems.
Demonstrated expertise in designing and deploying AI-powered solutions within production environments, especially at enterprise or consulting scale.
Hands-on experience with AI agent orchestration frameworks such as LangChain, AutoGen, or CrewAI (or deep expertise with distributed/cloud systems if the above are new).
Strong skills in integrating LLMs (OpenAI, Anthropic, open-source) with APIs, databases, and functional toolkits.
Proficiency in prompt engineering, context management, and addressing the unique stability and scaling challenges of large agentic systems.
Experience deploying solutions on public cloud (AWS experience strongly preferred).
Strong documentation, evaluation, and monitoring capabilities for AI systems.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills; ability to lead and mentor multiple squads, ensuring high engineering standards.
Fluent English required.
