Sr. Agronomist

Job Description

City Greens is a fast-growing AgriTech startup building automation and AI-driven solutions for Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA). We work with modern farms, growers, and institutions to help them improve productivity, efficiency, and sustainability through technology.

We are looking for a seasoned Senior Agronomist to be the technical backbone of our client success function. You will own crop performance outcomes across CityGreens client farms — on the ground, hands-on, pan-India.

As a Senior Agronomist, you will:

  • Serve as the primary technical point of contact for CityGreens clients post farm setup
  • Conduct regular site visits — crop health assessments, troubleshooting, and intervention planning
  • Develop and deliver crop-specific SOPs, agronomy calendars, and advisory protocols tailored to each farm
  • Train and upskill client farm teams on CEA crop management best practices
  • Coordinate with CityGreens' internal agronomy and tech teams to feed field learnings back into our systems and products
  • Support pre-sales technical assessments and crop feasibility evaluations where required

Requirements

Requirements

  • Minimum 6–8 years of hands-on agronomy experience in field.
  • Deep working knowledge of at least two of: protected cultivation (polyhouse/greenhouse), hydroponics or aeroponics, mushroom cultivation, high-value horticulture
  • Strong diagnostic skills — ability to identify and resolve crop health, nutrition, and environmental issues in controlled environment settings
  • Proven experience training farm labour and client-side teams
  • Comfortable working with data — farm management software, IoT/sensor outputs, yield and input tracking
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively (2–3 weeks per month) — non-negotiable
  • Based in Bangalore or willing to relocate

Benefits

Benefits

  • Competitive salary: ₹60,000 – ₹80,000 per month (based on experience)
  • PF
  • Health Insurance coverage
  • Company-provided accommodation during client site visits
  • Opportunity to work with India's most innovative CEA farms across diverse geographies and crop systems
  • Exposure to cutting-edge AgriTech, precision farming tools, and a high-impact, fast-growing team
