Title: Senior AI & Automation Engineer (Azure, Terraform, LLM)
Location: Nottingham (hybrid, 3 days on site)
Salary: Up to £70,000 + benefits

An established international software business that builds the systems trade businesses run on: wholesale distribution, automotive, retail, rental and field service. Tens of thousands of customers in 70+ countries, decades of trading, profitable and privately backed. They are investing seriously in AI and automation across the business.

The role
You'll be the technical lead in a shared-service AI and automation team supporting Cloud Operations. This isn't a DevOps ticket queue. You'll set technical direction, design and deliver infrastructure as code, automation and AI agents, and mentor the engineers around you.

What you'll be doing

• Designing and building AI agents and LLM-powered automation for cloud operations (Azure OpenAI and similar)
• Owning infrastructure as code standards across Azure, with Terraform preferred
• Designing and delivering CI/CD pipelines
• Setting the technical direction for the team and mentoring engineers
• Working closely with the Cloud Ops team to remove manual work at scale

What you'll need

• Strong Azure background
• Hands-on IaC experience you've written yourself: Terraform ideally, but Bicep, ARM, Pulumi or Ansible are all relevant
• CI/CD design and delivery (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions or similar)
• Real AI and automation delivery: LLM tooling, agents, Azure OpenAI, Semantic Kernel, LangChain or similar, ideally in production
• Experience leading technically and mentoring others

Nice to have: Oracle Cloud (OCI)

Package and practicalities
Up to £70,000, hybrid with 3 days a week on site, plus a paid on-call rota. Two-stage Teams interview process with quick feedback.
