Senior AI/DevOps Engineer (Azure)

Summary

Build and run the Azure-based infrastructure that powers an AI merchandising platform, owning CI/CD, Kubernetes, and LLM integrations while ensuring scalable, observable production systems.

Svitla Systems Inc. is looking for a Senior AI/DevOps Engineer (Azure) for a full-time position (40 hours per week) in Poland. Our client is an American company that provides an AI-powered platform for retail merchandising, helping retailers and CPG partners optimize pricing, promotions, markdowns, and trade fund management from a shared data model.

You will sit at the intersection of infrastructure, automation, and applied AI — building the pipelines, platforms, and guardrails that let the team ship, scale, and keep healthy in production the AI-powered features the company relies on. The team is globally distributed across India and both US coasts, so comfort with asynchronous, cross-timezone collaboration is important. The role is remote-first, with occasional in-office days in Gdańsk (about once or twice a month).

Expect some evening hours to overlap with US teams (roughly 15:00–18:00 CET).

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional experience in DevOps, platform engineering, or SRE roles.

  • Hands-on experience deploying and operating systems in production.

  • Strong experience with Azure cloud infrastructure and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Bicep, ARM, or similar).

  • Solid grasp of CI/CD pipeline design and automation (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or similar).

  • Proficiency with Docker and Kubernetes for containerization and orchestration.

  • Experience integrating with AI/LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Azure AI, or similar) and understanding of RAG architectures, vector databases, and prompt/response evaluation.

  • Comfort with monitoring and observability tooling (Prometheus, Grafana, Application Insights, or similar), including AI-specific metrics such as cost, latency, and quality.

  • Working knowledge of .NET / C#, including enough familiarity with .NET Framework 4.8 to support and troubleshoot legacy systems.

  • Comfortable working independently and owning problems end-to-end.

Nice to have

  • Python experience for ML/data workflows and automation scripting.

  • Experience with LLM evaluation frameworks and prompt engineering.

  • Node.js / React experience for full-stack collaboration.

  • Security/compliance experience around AI systems (data privacy, PII handling, model access controls).

  • Background in SOLID principles, clean architecture, and TDD.

Responsibilities

  • Design and operate the infrastructure that powers AI features: LLM integrations, RAG pipelines, vector stores, and model-serving endpoints.

  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for both traditional services and AI/ML workloads (model deployment, evaluation, rollback).

  • Own observability and monitoring for AI systems — latency, cost, token usage, output quality drift, and failure modes unique to LLM-based features.

  • Architect and manage cloud infrastructure on Azure (compute, networking, storage, IAM) using infrastructure-as-code.

  • Containerize and orchestrate services with Docker and Kubernetes.

  • Integrate with AI APIs and platforms (OpenAI, Anthropic, Azure AI/OpenAI Service, or similar) and build internal tooling to make that integration repeatable across teams.

  • Implement guardrails, rate limiting, caching, and cost controls for LLM-powered features.

  • Provide light ongoing support for legacy .NET Framework 4.8 applications, and contribute to modernization/migration planning where relevant.

  • Collaborate with product, data, and application engineering teams to translate AI-feature designs into reliable, production-grade systems.

  • Mentor other engineers and help set technical direction for AI infrastructure practices.

We offer

  • US and EU projects based on advanced technologies.

  • Competitive compensation based on skills and experience.

  • Regular performance appraisals to support your growth.

  • Flexibility in workspace, either remote or our welcoming office.

  • Bonuses for article writing, public talks, and other activities.

  • Generous time off, including vacation, national holidays, sick leaves, and family days.

  • Personalized learning programs tailored to your interests and skill development.

  • Free tech webinars and meetups organized by Svitla.

  • Regular corporate online activities.

  • Awesome team and a friendly, supportive community!
