Senior AI Engineer – Mathematical Reasoning

Job Summary

Zairoo.ai is looking for a hands-on Senior AI Engineer to improve the accuracy, reliability and quality of our AI-powered mathematics tutoring platform. You will work closely with engineers and mathematics specialists to enhance mathematical reasoning, evaluate AI responses and improve the overall tutoring experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop and enhance AI/LLM-powered tutoring features to improve user learning outcomes
• Increase mathematical reasoning accuracy and improve AI response quality through iterative development
• Design and implement prompts, reasoning workflows, and evaluation methods to optimize AI tutoring effectiveness
• Analyze AI failure cases and apply corrective improvements to reduce errors
• Build and maintain validation mechanisms to minimize incorrect AI answers in the tutoring platform
• Support retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), knowledge retrieval, and AI model integration to enhance system capabilities
• Collaborate with mathematics specialists to translate teaching requirements into effective AI solutions
• Monitor production AI systems and drive continuous improvements to maintain high performance and reliability

Required competencies and certifications

• Degree in Computer Science, AI, Machine Learning, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field
• Proven experience in AI, LLM, or Generative AI development
• Strong Python programming skills applied to AI development and problem-solving
• Expertise in prompt engineering and AI model evaluation techniques
• Solid understanding of mathematical reasoning principles relevant to AI tutoring
• Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams

Preferred competencies and qualifications

• Experience with retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), vector databases, or agentic AI systems
• Background in EdTech or educational AI applications
• Experience in mathematics teaching or tutoring roles
• Familiarity with Singapore Primary Mathematics curriculum
• Knowledge of multimodal AI technologies or optical character recognition (OCR)
