Senior AI Engineer (Python)

We are seeking a Senior AI Engineer to design and deliver production-grade AI agents, data integration pipelines, and tool APIs in a cloud-native Python environment. You will focus on agent-tool development, safe data access patterns, and observability while partnering with cross-functional stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design production-grade AI agents and supporting tool APIs for analytical reasoning and automated recommendations
• Build and maintain agent tools, system prompts, and structured JSON output parsing for reliable downstream use
• Implement read-only MCP server capabilities that provide safe access to enterprise datasets
• Develop asynchronous task handlers that trigger low-risk actions or generate tickets via an action gateway
• Write and optimize SQL queries against normalized cost datasets while adhering to partitioning and clustering standards
• Implement observability standards including health probes, structured JSON logging, and trace propagation
• Collaborate through peer reviews and co-located unit and integration tests to keep quality high

Requirements

• 3+ years of production software development experience with Python
• 2+ years of experience building LLM integrations, AI agents, or data-intensive backend services
• Senior-level autonomy and ownership across design, implementation, and delivery
• Strong project execution skills in small, self-managed engineering teams
• Expert Python skills with AsyncIO and modern backend patterns
• Strong SQL skills for analytics and backend data integration
• Proven REST API design skills including RFC 7807 error handling conventions
• Hands-on Docker skills for building and running containerized services
• Working knowledge of Model Context Protocol (MCP) and tool-calling integrations
• Timezone flexibility skills to align working hours through 1 PM CT
• Strong communication skills for collaborating with engineers and product partners
• Upper-Intermediate English skills (B2, Upper-Intermediate)
