Summary
Hands-on Senior AI Engineer taking AI products beyond proof-of-concept: building RAG pipelines (retrieval, chunking, reranking), GenAI and agentic workflows with LangChain/LangGraph, fine-tuning models and designing evaluation frameworks, deployed on Azure. Office-based in Manchester; recruited via The Portfolio Group on behalf of a client.
Salary: £80,000 - 100,000 per year
Requirements:- Strong experience with model evaluation, experimentation and fine-tuning.
- Hands-on experience building and deploying RAG and GenAI solutions.
- Good understanding of LLMs, embeddings, vector databases and retrieval techniques.
- Experience with Azure AI Foundry is advantageous.
- Ability to solve complex technical problems and explain the reasoning behind your approach.
- Demonstrated ownership of AI solutions and measurable improvements in model performance.
- Build and improve RAG pipelines, including retrieval strategies, chunking, reranking and grounding.
- Develop GenAI applications and agentic workflows using LangChain, LangGraph or similar frameworks.
- Adapt, fine-tune, instruction-tune and optimise models.
- Design evaluation frameworks to measure retrieval quality, hallucinations, answer accuracy and overall model performance.
- Experiment with models and approaches to improve reliability, latency and cost.
